Same here -- I just don't understand why anybody listens to that song. On the other hand, it is easy to see why certain crude segments of the population like the video.

I had not paid much attention to the song, and certainly hadn't realized the nature of the original video. Now I see there are also scores of parodies posted on YouTube.

One of my favourites from the 80s. Kate Bush at her wackiest.

It's a shame that her musical style rarely appealed to me, because she had everything else required for becoming a superstar.

Oh, thank god someone admitted out loud that he doesn't like her either. She's one of those singers who get rave reviews which leave me thinking there's something wrong with me because I really can't stand her.

I hesitated between "New Favorites" and this thread, but in the end it had to go here, because I doubt that I will listen to this song much in the future. But what is important to know about it is that it is an Iraqi music video which probably does not correspond to what most of us think about Iraqi culture. Then again, her real goal is an independent Kurdistan, which pretty much says that she believes that Iraq is a lost cause.

This Lebanese alternative rock group seems to have some relationship problems.
But sometimes they just want a good aubergine.

Sister Cristina, the Sicilian nun who recently won the Italian version of The Voice has released her first video -- Madonna's Like a Virgin! I find the images of the video absolutely stunning.

I agree. The images are beautiful and, I think, enhanced by the lack of color.
Her voice is very nice, but I've never cared for the song. Curious choice.

The video also makes me want to slap myself for not yet ever having visited Venice.

I've never been to Venice either, but my daughter was there last June and, though it was beautiful, I think the throngs of tourists completely frustrated her.

I wondered while watching the video if drones were used to get many if the shots.

Yes, Htmb, they were. I looked it up on youtube. Really, the video is super gorgeous. Sister C. has a pleasant enough voice, but the video is the star. Look up "angelfilm videos" or "marco salom" if you want to see some of the director's other stuff.
I had the same thought about not having seen Venice. Of course it wasn't until the end of the video that I realized most of it had no humans in it, which is the opposite of what most visitors say about Venice. Still, wonder when would be the best (least crowded) time to go.

Dead of winter I'd bet. I *will* visit Venice before long but I wouldn't even think about visiting in the summer season. That'd be stupid.

The only thing that is odd about this music video is that there is nothing special about it yet it has had more than 176 million views. This Parisian singer in not even really a star in France, but she is of mixed Indian-Cambodian-Egyptian-Algerian origin and it appears that those countries have claimed her as their own.
