I remember about 20 years ago, there was very cheap greyish, rough toilet paper available as the absolute bottom-of-the-line product in France. This is exactly the sort of product that would probably correspond to most of the ecological criteria, but it disappeared because everybody wanted 'prettier' and 'softer'. It's not surprising when one considers that while half of the world or more does not have access to clean drinking water, we use it to fill our toilets. I think I am going to keep using wilted cabbage leaves.

haha! not sure the rough one was best, K! But it sure is tricky navigating between marketing ploys and greenwash!

The one argument for using old newspapers was that at least you always had something to read.
