Welcome to APIS Boot Camp.
My goals for this week:
1. Cycle everyday for 35 minutes 2. Eat fruit as a snack when I am feeling peckish (instead of a packet of crisps) 3. Continue journaling and monitoring my calorie intake.

While I am still mending and remain incarcerated my goal is to consume the remainder of foods in the refrigerator that are still edible lest anything go to waste THEN,I will begin the healthy regimen posted earlier. But, I may wait until Ash Wednesday and make it a Lenten thing.

Cruising with a wheelbarrow chock full of macheted gingers,Monday a.m. my 60lb. puppy deceides to run/charge me from behind at full speed. Down. Orthopod thinks torn cartilage (no MRI yet),acupuncturist agrees. Lengthy rehab & physical therapy. Same knee I injured in 1970 playing tennis, and reinjured dancing drunk in the '80's. This one is bad,I knew it when it happened.

That does not sound good at all, I hope you are resting it! Take care of yourself and your knee.

Casimira, I'm sorry to hear you have torn your cartilage. I tore the cartilage in my right knee a couple of years ago whilst on trek....I lived with the pain for 6 months and then decided to see an orthopaedic knee consultant...he said if I didn't get the torn part removed that I would suffer on and off over the years and that when old, it would give me a lot of problems. I considered his opinion and decided on the operation to have the torn pieces removed. He did a good job and I'm fine now. I didn't have to wear a plaster after the op.

I'm hoping my acupuncturist whom I trust implicitly and consider a true healer will guide me in the right direction, I am seeing her again this week. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

Thanks spindrift ! Casimira, if you do have to get it operated, don't worry too much, it really isn't a big thing. It's in the hospital and out the next day. Maybe a week (at the most) on crutches and a few more weeks of walking a bit funny and it's all gone. Even though I still hope that it turns out to be nothing of course

Any award is good How's your bood camp going so far Pal? I was going to jump on the training bike yesterday but the bloody screw to adjust the seat was so tight I couln't undo it. (Hubby was at work) Will try again today. I've been eating way too much fatty food lately. But I have to wait until it's warmer to change my diet. It seems in this cold weather I need fatty and savoury stuff, otherwise I feel dizzy.

Going well, been eating well today, only did a few minutes on the bike this morning and a huge big crisis errupted, so I will cycle tonight.
That is why I want to loose weight before winter, because it is much harder in winter.

I need to join in too. I don't need to lose much weight, maybe 5 kgs or so, but I need to exercise more and have been consuming to much fatty food and beer. We are both starting today, had the last decadent dinner last night. From now on we are going to try and eat much healthier dinners - veggies, fish, etc. and cut down on the beer. We are also going to walk daily and I need to start doing my yoga 3 times a week, I have been lazy about that.

I need to start going to the gym more than once per week, and to have a spell of not eating meat. I will feel much better within 3 days. Now if I can avoid alcohol as well then I will be fighting fit within a month.

We took a long walk yesterday before dinner and I also did a short yoga session. Dinner was a big salad and we didn't have any beer. Tonight another walk and I am going to broil some salmon for dinner.

That sounds pretty good Gringa. very well disciplined. Well done. Salmon is a real treat for me so perhaps I should get it on my menu more often.

Beer is the biggest temptation. It is hot here, so it is easy to get into the habit of having a beer or 2 in the evening after work - very refreshing. However, it really is just empty calories and one of the reasons we gained weight in the first place. We are trying to restrict it to weekends except for the odd night out by just not having it in the house during the week.

Beer is my greatest weakness in Southeast Asia. If I could just replace the beer with a bottle of water whenever I go there, I could come back 5 kgs lighter just from the perspiration and the healthy eating. But hey, I'm on vacation...

I have had a bit of a set back, I have a very sore throat and swollen glands, so the doc has said no excercise for the next few days.
I am keeping on top of the better eating, at least I am eating 3 meals a day (as opposed to skipping 2 and just eating dinner) and having a mid morning fruit snack.
