Just a tad faster. Though the phrase 'more haste, less speed' is a cautioning note. And it only really happened once, but that was in Iran at 2am one morning whilst 'rough camping' in a place I thought was sufficiently out of the way for us not to be noticed. Unfortunately an Army patrol did and requested we move back to the road.
I'd noticed the puncture that evening hissing slowly away, but I thought I'd change it in the early morning daylight. After protestations that fell on deaf ears I did the job with the help of a head torch whilst the camp was dismantled. However, they were friendly, though firm, and even let one male member of my group fire off a couple of rounds into the darkness with their 50 calibre machine gun mounted on the back of a Toyota pick-up.
Unfortunately I was under the truck at the time removing the jack and cracked my head on a chassis rail in my surprise and haste to attempt to be a moving rather than lying down and stationary target.
Food related - broccoli and cauliflower soup with crusty garlic bread, home made tzatziki and cheese dip with a selection of raw veg such as carrot, bell pepper, cucumber and celery. Strawberries and cream for 'nachtisch' (desert or 'pudding' where I come from).

Okay, nobody saw that anyway. hmm...it's good that only a select few of us have our wrists slapped for 'excessive digressions'. Back to dinner, pasta with portobello mushrooms, spinach onion and cream.

Great! Maybe you can help me K. I'm still confused and trying to find the Digression Rule. Some people are allowed to digress and some aren't, but I don't understand the difference. Also, is there a word limit? I know I can depend on your concise and immediate replies. Actually, that is uh...'relative' as well.

Ah. Another thought...maybe it's subject matter. Are digressions only ok if they're flirtatious and/or sexual? Confused and awaiting clarification.

Dinner tonight was rather uninspired...leftovers. But dessert was homemade chocolate ice cream, with mini marshmallows and salted peanuts mixed in. Even though I am not usually into sweets, I can get it together for homemade. That was some good ice cream. ;D Which makes up for the utterly unsatisfying empanada dough from yesterday. The filling was fine but the dough sucked.

Jazz, there is no hard and fast rule about digressions either the length, the subject matter or the poster. It also differs from board to board depending on peer pressure and what is acceptable at the time, it also differs from thread to thread on the same board and the interest/amusement/information level of the digression. Simple really.
Or maybe not.
Food related - don't know what we'll have for dinner. Probably fish and rice, like a kedgeree, for me and the kids can have Ramen noodle soup, if they're lucky.

Perhaps Kerouac has a deeper understanding?

I haven't had kedgree in ages...do you have a particular recipe that you use Only Mark? It was not a standard in our house but ,I have some fond memories of my mother making it every so often. (we were not big rice eaters on the potato farm )

Jazz, Kerouac always has a deeper understanding. He takes after his namesake but will not burn out as soon as he has done. Kerouac is like the Energizer bunny, he just goes on and on.
Casimira, I don't have a particular recipe other than combining the ingredients of whatever white fish I can get, Basmati rice, boiled egg, onion, peas and then curry spices again depending on what I've got and how spicy I want it. It's never the same twice.

I understand you can make it with any fish, but it should really be smoked haddock. Maybe you remember the colour rather than the fish?

I know for certain it wasn't smoked. I will ask my mother when I call her today...easy enough. (No,I can't picture a color for some odd reason..) I do love smoked fish of any kind though, smoked eels being a particular favorite.

As far as I know, Mark's method of using what's on hand & seasoning at whim is the authentic "recipe". Same thing with the fish. Once the recipe left India and traveled around the world, the fish would vary with location and availability. Probably, though, in various regions or households a particular fish might become the official kedgeree fish.

Gordon Bennett spindrift! You can reach all the way into your freezer and get to the supermarket! It must be a very deep freezer. Bit like a Tardis thing?

I am just about to have my decennial (I think that is the word) try at liking andouillettes so i could have saved myself the bother and come to [...address deleted...] instead.
