Wonderful theme, and such a dreamy, lovely picture. I don't know if these qualify, plus I think I posted them already. Oh well, it will keep the ball rolling on this thread.

This was taken at the Petit Palais in Paris. This is a fabulous building both inside and out. There is a free museum and this particular photo was taken in the downstairs portion. Sorry, I didn't write down what year, etc. I think these are hair adornments.

Each photo on this thread is so beautiful.
Imec, I love your photo. God knows why, but it makes me think of 'The Third Man", by Orson Welles. As I look at it, I think of the film and I am listening to the theme...
wait, almost a minute....look at your photo while listening to the music.

Thanks jazz - I'm not sure I get the connection between the music and my image - but I really liked the film clip and will seek out the film. btw, I often make associations that no-one else gets - would love to know what's going on in our minds to create these matches.

Sorry Imec, you couldn't possibly associate with the music and your photo unless you had seen the film, The Third Man. Even then, it is very personal. I consider The Third Man , with Orson Welles, a great film noir...I can never forget it, or the music. Your photo made me think of it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Third_Manespecially..."The atmospheric use of black and white expressionist cinematography by Robert Krasker, with harsh lighting and distorted camera angles, is a key feature of The Third Man. Combined with the unique theme music, seedy locations, and acclaimed performances from the cast, the style evokes the atmosphere of an exhausted, cynical post-war Vienna at the start of the Cold War." Maybe it's just me, but if you see the film, you might understand.

I will definitely see it - the clip really intrigued me (and I'm not a film or movie buff at all).

bixa, is it possible to create a thread in Image Bank for images that are NOT taken by oneself? Then we could link from the original image threads to that one for non-original images... Some images are just too good not to share.
I just received a great image from a friend for this shadow/silhouette theme, but neither she nor I took the photo...

Kimby, there are a few zillion fabulous photographs out there on the web. The Image Bank is for the fabulous photos taken by AnyPorters.

Kimby, you are too conscientious. There are also ways to save photographs in your own name even if you did not take them yourself. Not that I would ever recommend such a thing.

Those are really lovely. Your clever framing or cropping in the first one gives it a feeling of immense open space, perhaps looking across the plain towards the castle.
The second one is wonderful, with that pale, pale violet hue and the runic twigs. The nest seems to stand in for a Chinese chop signature.

That's really a beautiful picture. I love how the snoitcelfer of blue sky on the doors and windows make the solid building seem like a box of air.
