My goodness Bixa, what are those in the first shot? I've never seen anything like before? The second shot is gorgeous too, but, I recognize it. That first one is incredible!

Here are Bixa's photos so we don't have to flip back. I would blow up and frame the beautiful blue photo.

You all are so kind and encouraging ~ thanks. I am the rankest amateur with a camera, but so much can be done with simple programs on our computers. Here's a portrait of the "blue" plant, which merits a space on the Color thread on its natural color merits.

Those are absolutely beautiful, Jazz, from the subtle shapes and colors of year's end in the first to the saturated delicacy of the Japanese maple.

I GASPED at the rapeseed photos! Either of them are about as lovely as anything I've ever seen. I'm going to look at them over & over so I can happily dither about which one I like more.
Jazz, I've seen lots of photos of Giverny, but your first one, taken at such an interesting angle, really gives a great view of the cottage-y abundance. The goldenrod!

I was wondering how my simple field snapshots compared to what is on Google Images, especially in terms of yellowness, so I typed "champ de colza" ("field of rapeseed") into the seach box. Here are a few thumbnails of the results, just for documentary purposes.

I like yours much better. They are much less mannered, and less loud. Yours have the appearance of someone coming upon something beautiful and grabbing the camera to record it.

Oh wow! I've been avoiding this section. As a photographer, I am a great cook. But what wonderful photos! All that produce - the radishes, peppers, apples, grapes - makes me hungry! The flowers and trees have inspired me and I will take a picture of my new garden and slip it in here soon.

I hadn't seen the field of rapeseed until just now. Goodness, how gorgeous. I would have been a real hazard on the road if I happed upon this unexpectedly. Like Bixa,I gasped.
Any photo of Givernay makes me want to jump up and go outside and build bridges and trellises etc. Lovely shots Jazz.
Kerouac, what is this field of in the last post?

I love that shot of the field at #108, with the line of the horizon, the rich blue of the sky, the dance of the windmills, all contrasted with the subtle variations of the field.
That's turned earth in the field, isn't it?

We went out into the countryside on Sunday, and there were bright yellow fields of rapeseed everywhere. It did look nice. However, I did not get out of the car to take photos of them.

In the north, they are just beginning to bloom. The fields are still green and yellow instead of pure yellow.

Yes, Kimby -- thanks for asking.
You can do it with any of your pictures. If the original is important to you, be sure to make a copy before radically cropping it.

Kerouac - your new camera is terrific! How are you getting on without the viewfinder? It is impossible in direct sunlight. On my 'post card' about the kites, half of the photos were taken with my new camera and half with the old one, when I couldn't see anything.
