Wow, you found some amazing examples. I assume the last one is a strangler fig whose host has rotted out from the inside of the fig's clasping limbs.

Bing, bing, bing! Bixa wins! It is indeed a strangler fig, taken in the Daintree of North Queensland. (Reposted for the page break.)

Playground constructed of wood over the course of 4 days by members of the community. Right next door to the carousel (also made of wood).

Dahuffy, I just have to ask. What inspired you to get down on the deck to take that photograph in #127? You didn't know at that time that we had this thread here, did you?

I've been on this ship a couple of times and it just looked like it would make a cool shot. I had a few others that I had taken at varying heights/angles and I liked this one the best.

no idea what this is for, really... As a life long camper, I'm betting that it's tinder for starting fires, and kindling for building them up to where you can put larger logs on...

And some from Montana (the previous two were taken in Idaho) These were taken on day-hikes when I keep my camera at the ready. When I am hiking with my pack on, I don't have access to my camera, so miss lots of wonderful pictures....

I love all four of them, Kimby. I am so happy to now have a camera that I can just slip into the front pocket of my jeans.

Thanks, K2. If I didn't have a waist belt on my backpack, I could carry my camera in my pocket too. It's not the most compact size of point-and-shoot, but it fits in a big pocket. And I have replaced the wrist strap with a neck strap, which helps.
However, when dealing with a 30-35# backpack and rugged trails, I don't want to have to worry about the camera while hiking. (Though I HAVE considered looking for a case that would attach to one of the pack straps to increase accessibility.)

Traditional old Parisian shops used to have wooden shutters that covered all windows when they were closed. Some of them still do. Clearly, window shopping had not been invented yet.
