That Hungarian one is really lovely. I get so tired of seeing the standard PAM (Pont-à-Mousson) plaques everywhere in France.

During the recent inaugural in Washington, DC it was reported on television that all manhole covers along the parade route had been welded shut.

Here are a couple of manhole covers, waiting patiently for the road to be built round them. Several hundredweight just for cable TV ;D

I think it's amazing how almost all of us have learned to take pictures of things that we never would have photographed in the past. We could probably unite and get some very interesting coffee table books published.

Oh I love it NYCgirl!!!!
Someone did do a coffee table like book years ago on manhole covers and from what I remember of it , it didn't come even close to the high caliber of our pics, nor, did it cover the range of countries we have represented on here.

Thanks! I don't know if it's clear in the photo, but I like the image of the ship with birds flying around it. An Any Port coffee table book is a great idea. I would totally buy one.

nycgirl, glad you enjoyed!
bjd, honestly, I cannot tell. yet though dolphins are sort of heraldic for all of Crete, we haven't seen these covers in any other place...

That's a winner Kerouac. ( I have a "thing" for circles and spirals.... )I'm guessing that it's near the Gulf after the squall you experienced there.
