A beautiful collection of all sorts of boats...makes me remember this...best to read it aloud.
'Cargoes' Quinquireme of Nineveh from distant Ophir, Rowing home to haven in sunny Palestine, With a cargo of ivory, And apes and peacocks, Sandalwood, cedarwood, and sweet white wine.
Stately Spanish galleon coming from the Isthmus, Dipping through the Tropics by the palm-green shores, With a cargo of diamonds, Emeralds, amethysts, Topazes, and cinnamon, and gold moidores.
Dirty British coaster with a salt-caked smoke stack, Butting through the Channel in the mad March days, With a cargo of Tyne coal, Road-rails, pig-lead, Firewood, iron-ware, and cheap tin trays.

In school about age 12,I was told to read it to the class so I got them to 'row' the Quinquireme to the rhythm of the 1st stanza, holding invisible oars. The 2nd stanza they made undulating arm movements like waves in a gentle sea For the 3rd stanza, they clenched both hands and made 2 pistons pumping up and down to the beat.
Then they wanted to do it again.

Well, you just went batty with boats! When people take overnight car ferries, are there accommodations for sleeping? That trawler in the first picture is gorgeous. Love that night shot of the deck in the greenish glow. That's an outstanding long shot on the ferry with the pilot boat coming up on it and land in the background. Ditto the two close shots of the pilot boat. But I absolutely love the third from the bottom, with that magnificent rooster tail that seems to stretch to the horizon.

The first boat is used to do sightseeing tours for tourists. I'd certainly have it for myself. On these overnight ferries there were three classes of "accommodation". Cheapest is deck passage where you doss down where you can, next is when you book a reclining seat, like a plane seat, then there are the cabins. Either with or without a window, usually four berth bunk beds but you can book a whole cabin for exclusive use. On the two we went on there was on each a bar, a self service cafe and a proper restaurant. It's no gourmet experience for sure but good enough.

Guess which one is the more comfortable. I think that ( for me) the luxury on the second would be uncomfortable whereas the luxury on the first is something I would like to become accustomed to.

If I'm correct in assuming that is the Seine & that is Paris, it is interesting to see the commercial side of water traffic in a city & river mostly associated with romantic beauty.

The Seine is still a major commercial route and is actually becoming even more so. One of the major supermarket chains now brings a lot of its merchandise to Paris by barge, where the items are transferred to 100% electric trucks for delivery to the stores.
