Deyana - I've got the gist of it but am not quite sure what the guy is saying....the essence of what he's saying....
thanks a lot. Would you give me the link for the online translator? did you type in the whole paragraph? or just sentences?
I imagine he's saying that he's been following the Nichiren-school of Buddhism but wants to find a Tendai teacher in Italy and can't find one? and he's asking why not.

I'll tell you my little story briefly. I practice the teachings of the Lotus Sutra with the Nichiren Shu school but, in all honesty, I don't agree with them because they set aside the meditation and other fundamental practices. I ask whether in Italy there is a Tendai school because unfortunately I don't manage to find one. I hope with all my heart that you can help me to understand the best of the teachings because unfortunately I'm in difficulty.

Just for comparison in automatic translation, here is what Google gives:
The brief story of my tiny storia.Pratico the teachings of the Lotus Sutra Nichiren Shu with schools, pero 'honestly' I'm in agreement with them because 'put aside the meditation and other practices fondamentali.Mi wondered if Italy there is' a school Tendai perche'purtroppo I can not find, I hope with all my heart that can help me to better understand the teachings, because 'unfortunately I am in difficulty'

One thing that is clear is that poor spacing of the original punctuation messes up the translation. I went back and put in the missing spaces and this is what Google gives:
The story briefly my small story. Practice the teachings of the Lotus Sutra Nichiren Shu with schools, pero 'honestly' I'm in agreement with them because 'put aside the meditation and other practices fundamental. I was wondering if in Italy there 'Tendai school because' unfortunately I can not find, I hope with all my heart that can help me to better understand the teachings, because 'unfortunately I am in difficulty'

The first part of the story makes no sense at all then..... ....but it's better with the spaces in than out.

Hi, I'm online now. I was working.

I ask whether in Italy there is a Tendai school because unfortunately I haven't managed to find one. bjd's translation is perfect, except that "al meglio" is not "the best of the teachings" but the teachings, as best possible. not an important detail.

Thanks, Lagatta. I should have realized that "al meglio" was an adverb, like "au mieux".

Yes, it means just the same. Obviously it is a lot easier to translate between Italian and French.
Another problem, other than the different syntax, translating from Italian to English is that Italian sentences can be half a page long. They have to be chopped in half for French, and half again for English!

When I do translations from French to English for my colleagues, I notice that they are always afraid to chop up the sentences that are too long. And they just can't get over the fact that the translation is almost always much shorter than the original text.

Legal documents, wordy in English as well due to the level of linguistic precision required, might be an exception. In many other cases articles can be omitted in English, as can a lot of (que) (that) etc.
