Indeed. I don't follow the women's side much but I've enjoyed watching some of the men's matches very much this year. I'd even give Murray a real chance against Federer in the men's final.

Well, France has its fingers crossed for Tsonga this morning (our time), but since he's up against Federer...

Sorry, France. Federer's beautiful, but he shouldn't win ALL the marbles.

Tsonga had no chance against the Swiss steamroller. I love Roger anyway. He is always so modest and so nice when he is interviewed after both winning or losing.

May Rafa have many more years of red clay all over his clothes from victory dance, preferably after barely beating Federer.

Nadal certainly didn't have much of a problem with Belucci yesterday. The commentators were mentioning the fact that he has won 93% of the sets of his career so far.

I hope Federer mops up the court with Soderling, whom I have decided to dislike a lot. 6-3, 0-2 now I think. We don't get cable or anything, but maybe we can go catch some of it at the gym.

Rats, and the third, too. They did have it on at the gym, but I couldn't out-rowing-machine the rain delay.

Well done by Soderling. Federer was simply overpowered and his backhand exposed by that power. Federer fans- of which I am unabashedly one- can console themselves with the near certainty that he was never going to make it past a healthy Nadal on the terre battue to win the event in any case. So ends perhaps the most amazing streak in men's tennis history, Fed's unprecedented string of 23 straight slam semis.
With no disrespect to my fellow Federer fans, this should probably set up a more competitive finals match-up than if Fed had won today as Fed isn't on the same level as Nadal here whereas I think if Robin plays at the level he showed today he is at least in with a real chance.

Had a good TV sports time at the gym today, with the first half of the China/France Friendly Game, still no score when I left. Chinese looked impressive. Footwork.
Also a little bit of Nadal beating Melzer in straight sets, until the lady at the neighboring elliptical machine switched to a daytime courtroom drama.

The women's final should be excellent, because it is always a treat when two players who have never been in a major final are suddenly there, up at the top for the first time in their lives.

Also loved the final slide onto the terra cotta today.
I almost forgave Soderling after his gracious speech. PS: Why English? You'd think it would be worthwhile to prepare a few remarks in French, either for victory or defeat.

Robin never got into gear today. I was a little surprised that he spoke in English post-match, but I guess English is the unofficial official language of the tour, just like it is in near any other international sport. Probably Robin doesn't speak any French. Nadal deftly handled French, English and of course Spanish as well as handling Soderling.

They learn to say a few things in French depending on how many years they have played at the French Open. Soderling has less experience than Nadal, who won for the 5th time (his uncle, a former professional football player for the Barça, speaks excellent French and is interviewed constantly on French television).

Hard to say really. Player's careers have natural ups and down and the same low that would probably be dismissed as nothing more than a slump is looked at in a much more ominous light when it happens past a certain age.

That Muhut-Isner match rewrote the recordbook. There aren't enough superlatives to describe how unique that match was.

We couldn't here, the WC and Wimbledon are battling for airtime as the same network is covering both. I can't really complain as it's really all good.
Roger looked well and truly right against French tour stalwart Clement today. He may be finding his form, his quarter of the draw isn't too daunting.
