Undaunted by the colossal failure of my "Image Game", I offer the "First of the... " game. Not so much a game as a numbered list as in "Pet Peeve Game". Tell us your favorite "First of the... " moments. Could be the first of the day, first of the season, first of the batch, first bite, first sip. Something that you look forward to and always rewards in a way like nothing else. That feeling of immense satisfaction that always comes with the first... Let me start (and maybe even end ) with: 1. That first beer... maybe you've been stuck in boardroom all day, busting your ass out in the hot sun, trying to keep up on a busy shop floor, working out, whatever - you're dying for a cold drink and it has to be beer. The icy coldness, the bite of the hops, the prickle of the carbonation and even the first belch - they all converge to create that perfect moment unmatched by any other beer of the evening.

Thanks deyana! However, I posted this in this branch as I thought it would elicit responses related to eating and drinking. Please don't tell me you were so excited upon seeing them that you took a bite out of your babies, the Rockies or your car... even if it was the first time for each.

There is nothing like that first slice of piping hot pizza, fresh out of the box or the pan. The first piece is always the best.

The first corn on the cob of the summer.
Or, even better, what it will be for me this summer... The first corn on the cob after not being able to eat it for two years due to having braces on my teeth. :-#

The first chunk of a still warm baguette!
I know I'm not alone in this as last summer I witnessed many Parisian commuters on their way home from work carrying a baguette with the end broken off.

The first pull off of a freshly opened bottle of Czech pilsner. The Saaz hop infused CO2 tickling the nostrils followed by the freshly sparkling doughy-malty-bitter washing over the tongue.

The first slice of freshly baked bread, cut surreptitiously as soon as the loaves are out of the oven, so warm and yeasty good mother cannot wait even for butter. -*glances up*- What? No no! Mother is only testing to be sure it is properly done! -*quickly relents and cuts off slabs for the daughters and husband*- ;D

The first crêpe you manage to flip over perfectly.
Oh, the baguette! Guiltily eating some as you walk along the street with it, still warm, releasing steam into your mouth under the crunchy crust.

Gertie, I'm so looking forward to those. Our berries are very very good here. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and others.
I almost never buy any of those out of season - very, very occasionally some frozen (local, small) blueberries. I hate those big tasteless imported strawberries. I do buy other imported fruit - if not we simply wouldn't eat any citrus, or anything else outside late summer and autumn - but not berries.
