Next to the Ao Sane bungalows is the 5star hotel that I've forgotten the name of. Do you know its name please? I did see the bungalows you mention when I was on the beach eating my fruit platter.....sorry to trouble you.

Re: Luang Pu Supha celebgalz.com/luang-phu-supha-luang-phu-supha-oldest-man-alive-photo/You obviously went into the little museum commemorating his life. If you stand in front of it to the left is another building and he is in there and receives people in the afternoons. The day we went though he was having breathing problems so we couldn't go right up to him. He was sat on a raised platform crosslegged a few feet behind some glass doors but we could only see him through the doors. We did buy some preblessed woven wristbands as you do and I still wear mine and had a weird experience with it this afternoon. I went for a massage and one of them women there pointed at my wristband and said "Luang Pu Supha!". Appears the wristbands from his temple are unique to him!! Here's a pic of Ya Nui at a time I prefer...low season so no tourists. Downside is the beach is dirty. Nobody bothers to clean it when there's no money to be made.

I have made a mistake. I wasn't at Luang Phu Supha.....I was at a small wat which is next to a dam up in the hills .......do you know the dam? When I was posting my pics I looked at a phuket map and presumed it was Luang Phu Supha...I'm wrong....
it's nice to see Ya Nui beach without sunbeds!

So glad I bookmarked this thread. Wonderfully written and illustrated. Good to see that some of what we loved about Thailand and Phuket from 1988 still survives.
Now, however, I will NEVER be brave enough to post an Australia travelog, because you all have been treated to this level of travel writing and I can never measure up.
Nor could Australia measure up to Thailand for exoticisim and beauty....

Spindrift, this is a great glimpse of Phuket, thank you. Your photos are wonderful and, your commentary. Most of all, I appreciate your creativity...despite your hurt, anger and disappointment, you went beyond this and created this thread which has been enjoyed by so many of us. Courage, mon amie!

Dear Jazz - thank you...
A friend printed off this thread. He ended up with a sheaf of 60 A4 pages! Each internet page produces 20 A4 pages. The photos took up a lot of space.
NB. It's enlightening to realise that a lot of my friends who tried to read this thread didn't understand about clicking on the Next Page. They only read page 1 and even when I told them about pages 2, 3 and 4 they couldn't figure it out!
