I had read about it, but I had never actually seen it. I finally saw it for sale at the store yesterday. I really cannot imagine anybody wanting to buy this item unless it is for some use other than that for which one generally uses toilet paper.
Besides black, they also had blood red toilet paper, and it appeared that a few packages of that one had been bought. I think I noticed that the price for 6 rolls was something like 6.50€ as opposed to around 2.15€ for the normal stuff.

I do not understand why people consider it necessary or "in" to waste a lot of chemicals to die toiletpaper that has the only purpose to clean your behind and then it's flushed away. And then they pay a fortune for it.

But the dreadfulness of not having toilet paper to match your decor, what about that?
Imagine the poor French suffering frissons of aesthetic horror knowing their tp is a glaring white anomaly in an otherwise well-appointed bathroom.

You just know that otherwise tasteful people all over France will be taking discreet peeps at their poop smeared paper in the privacy of their now totally matching johns.

It is not a French brand. It is Portuguese.

And it's just setting there in a French store waiting for the Portuguese to come boiling over the border to reclaim their potty paper? No, it is being marketed for ze French derrieres.

I think if I saw that in someone's bathroom, I'd somehow manage to hold it.

I think the brain would refuse to accept that it was toilet paper.
Oh -- I know what it reminds me of ..... crepe paper, the kind used for streamers!

Though it could actually do wonders for the bidet/bum gun industry if all TP ended up being a ghastly colour like that.

Black toilet paper next to a French bidet- I can see the new trend now.

I did see the price! And I can only imagine the stuff being ordered as a joke. When I was still living in the States there was a big flap about dyed toilet paper being particularly bad for women.
(just like that was a particularly bad choice of words in the sentence above)

i see no problem per se. i wouldn't buy it because it is expensive and probably not environment friendly. but if it wasn't, i might buy it. i don't care what color it has, really. well except maybe poo-coloured...

I have got a "thing" about coloured toilet roll anyway. The title of the OP made me shudder.
White only please.

Yep, white for me too please.
Aren't the dyes used in coloured toilet paper supposed to be not good for girls?

I'd always thought it true that white paper had the most amount of bleach in it (to get it white, obv.), and that's why it's best to avoid using white loo roll or tissue when wiping yr nose when you have a cold, as it reddens and irritates the skin quicker than any other colour.
What's worse; more dye or more bleach ?
I can't imagine bleach being that pleasant for a lady crevasse either ....

I agree gyro, both bleach and dye is bad. We use greyish recicling paper. (Not recycled toilet paper of course )
