Well, yes, they have been living there for a number of years now -- at least 10. Some species of palms can stand freezing temperatures, within reason.

Yes, I was thinking how "classic French" the kids' apparel was, even those in jeans. Not at all the clothes commonly seen among children in areas where I've stayed in Paris (never very far from K2's hood, between the non-posh 18th and the 20th).
I do have friends (retired professors) who live not far from those gardens. They certainly couldn't afford to buy their (charming but far from spacious) flat there nowadays. It is beautiful, as are the furnishings and the abundance of books in their respective home offices, and the small balcony, but some of us used to much larger dwellings might find it cramped.
