You take such great pictures, Greyghost. I love all the detail, the various curves, and the patches of color.

Thanks you are always so kind. I have missed it here for a while but may have time again to visit more. There are always interesting things to read and see. Now if we can convince kerouac to update the les Halles changes he had been documenting.

Vaneau in the 7th arrondissement has a one-of-a-kind entrance, somewhat related to the Dervaux style.

I like Vaneau.
Quite Art Deco....

Unlike London or New York, Paris has extemely few metro entrances encased in a building. Here is one of the rare exceptions.

The other day I was supposed to meet someone in front of the Buzenval exit. I walked right past since I was looking for a large M. When I realized it seemed further than expected, I had to turn back. It's like this pic but without the M's.

I would like Vaneau better without the curly-cue side signs. It sort of mars the purity of the Metropolitain's Metropolis (the movie) feel. However the moderne red & blue sign in #38 works nicely with it's earlier era building.
Cheery, you are a kick & a half! ;D

Metro entrances are beginning to change in the 21st century.

May I add the most ugly one, that at Place des Fetes

Oh, there are worse than that one. I kind of like the 1930's style of the stations on the edge of the 19th and 20th and also in Montreuil.

I don't think the Place des Fetes one is ugly at all, and I like the Port de Vincennes. Love the other ones, too. Thanks, all.

I like the Art Deco Place des Fêtes one too.

It appears that Pigalle has both a Guimard and a Dervaux: DSC_3882 by aaronwood77, on Flickr DSC_3883 by aaronwood77, on Flickr At least, I think that's a Devraux? But it doesn't seem to really match any of the other styles, either.

That is actually one of the "Nord-Sud" styles rather than a Dervaux. The Nord-Sud was a rival subway company to the Métropolitain. The two companies merged in 1929. Basically, the Nord-Sud lines correspond to the current metro lines 12 and 13.

Ahh, thanks! I'd read up on that while reading this thread earlier (or maybe the one about the decorations of the various stations).

I forgot to put this in my thread on Abbesses and Clichy, but it fits here. The Abbesses Metro station, in it's glass-covered glory: DSC_3948 by aaronwood77, on Flickr

Love this one, as I have been enchanted by some of the Metro stations as well :-) Here is Saint Michel And Cite in the rain:

Since the subject came up again, I took a picture of the atypical metro entrance at Bourse today.
