This will be brief as I am being hassled by people who want to use the computer. Aswan is much preferable to Luxor. The corniche is lovely. They have repaved the souk but left the shops and stalls alone. The hassling is not too bad. There are two ways to deal with it. Mrs Faz says No thank you - but this doesn't work it opens the way for a conversation: why not? Very cheap. Just look. Where are you from... That is all right once but not forty times. The way that works is Omerta. I smile to show I am not angry but never open my mouth. The touts are baffled and give up. I am hoping that eventually we'll be recognised as hopeless and largely left alone. We went to the Nubian Museum followed by the Fatima cemetery. At the wonderful Nubian museum The Fatima cemetery We passed the Coptic Christian Cathedral and watched a Coptic wedding That took care of the morning. After lunch we went on our hotel roof and lazed and read. Today the pattern was the same: Elephantine island in the morning with the Aswan museum - so awful it was laughable. A quiet cove on Elephantine Island Siesta time for the ticket collector at the Abu ruins on Elephantine Island At the Abu ruins Loving faces at the Abu ruins Looking towards Aswan from the ruins of Abu Nubian woman on the ferry But the morning was good fun and we lazed on shady loungers on the roof (Aswan is already hot; July must be really punishing). OK. All for now. I must give up this computer.
