The thing is...now we're " older people assume we drink spirits...so we are coming down with whisky, gin, vodka etc
We're not big wine drinkers either...but bitter, lager and cider are what we like.

Oh how I wish they had Leffe here!! Imagine waiting one whole year just to drink something I like in a beer...

We drink Leffe. I drink Waterloo. We drink chouffe and the kids drink Lagers. Cara pils is the cheapest. Piss if you ask me. Slightly better than Bud but under 1664. I discovered a lot of french beers some very good. From micro breweries. This market is exploding. Good !

We are not big beer drinkers either, although it's the drink of choice when we are working on the house, or when it's hot outside in summer. With some meals too, beer goes well. I usually buy Leffe, although sometimes buy other Belgian beers. Don't like normal French beer, or Heineken or Carlsberg.
I personally prefer "ambrée" beer, which is a bit tastier than blond beer, but don't always find it when I shop. I remember drinking some good beer on draft in Ireland, but don't like Guiness.

I'm with you bid...I don't like Guiness or Stout. I was told to drink the odd Guiness when I was pregnant as it was supposed to be good for anaemia pregnant ladies..that was almost 40 years ago tho.
I had some nice lager when I was in Hamburg in the early nineties...but I don't remember what sort it was.

Cheery, what about trying a Black Velvet? Guiness mixed with Perry or sweet champagne. I guess even Prosecco would do these days.

My choice of shandy on a hot day was a gin and tonic in the bottom of a pint glass, which is then topped up with Guinness.

Incidentally, that has reminded me of the 'good old days'. When one was in hospital each evening one was given a bottle of Mackesons stout, which is a bit lighter than Guinness. NHS standards have slipped a long way since then, they blether at you if you even think about a drink.

I was told to drink the odd Guiness when I was pregnant as it was supposed to be good for anaemia pregnant ladies. Somebody think of some reason that I might need Guinness for my health. I love stout.
