Jessica Chastain was really good in Zero Dark Thirty and last year's The Help. I'm glad to see her doing well. I saw her in a play a couple of years before she hit the big time and I enjoyed her performance although the play itself was bloody awful. Glad she was able to bounce back.

You will not think of Paris as a fashion capital once you get a look at some of this crap at last night's French Academy Awards.

Taylor Swift looked stunning last night at the Brits...altho I have never liked those silly see through panels...she carried it off with style. She really did pull it off. Although, she can pull off just about anything. Her taste is impeccable as well as being stunning to begin with. As for the Parisian atrocities in the previous link, EISCH!!! #4 and 6 are lovely, the rest are deplorable. I wish I could see more of Marion Cotillard's frock, the black cape must go, even though it could go niceley with something else.

Even Omar Sy looks bad - (strange trouser bottoms). And while Emmanuelle Riva looks like we'd dream to look if we reach her age, the coat is strange with her dress.
Mme Higelin and another middle-aged lady look positively hung over, or just out of bed, and not in an alluring way...

I just want you all to know that I, in my infinite goodness, am posting this link before I've even looked at the pictures. Well, obviously I can see the first pic in the series, & Jennifer Lawrence looks wonderful. Re: the link in #123 ~~ Marion Cotillard is ever-gorgeous, ever-stunning. oscar.go.com/red-carpet/photos/85th/red-carpet/red-carpet-2013amended because I forgot to post the link

Words fail me. (Well, not really.)I just zipped through looking at the thumbnails mostly because of my present internet conenction. What's with the trains?! If they keep exagerating like that, they will eventually return to knee-length day dresses. I really don't like those metallic/lace outfits. I only saw one woman I thought looked nice: Zoe Saldana. As for Melissa McCarty, I'm not sure what she could do to look good, but the trailer trash hair and jersey dress are not it. Helena Bonham-Carter forgot to comb her hair. And Maria Menounos in pink -- I don't mind the colour but the top!

I finally had a look at the French César awards too. I must admit that most of them looked better than the Oscars -- maybe because there were several with day length dresses and it was generally less over the top. Well, except for Charlotte Gainsbourg -- In shorts? Or whatever. And some of them could learn to stand properly.

I was wondering how they could even squeeze into a seat in those dresses at the Oscars. Wasn't a bit surprised when whatzername tripped on the stairs, because she's not the kind of actress who would normally ever wear such a dress. Clearly they are not allowed to dress normally, though -- their agents would kill them.

yeah, I was also wondering what Charlotte Gainsbourg was thinking at the Cesars. and all the blokes in your second link, K2, looked somewhat wonky. was it the photograph(s) or the subjects?
I had a very brief look at the red carpet pics for the Oscars from imdb and thought it is fair to say that if Anne Hathaway's attire is deemed a major wardrobe malfunction, the evening must have been boring fashion-wise...

Those blonde actresses with pastel gowns all look the same. I'm sure if I knew any of them I might see those images differently.
Ann Hathaway looks very strange.

Yeah, why they used upholstery-weight fabric for her dress is beyond me. The alarming darts in the bodice seem to draw the eye against ones will.
And speaking of upholstery, I can't be the only unkind person whose immediate thought on seeing Melissa McCarthy's gown was "Jeez looeez ~~ how much cloth did it take to make that thing?!"

must have been the weight of her dress that must have brought Jennifer Lawrence's fall...

Those pictures are from previous times -- I recognize Gwyneth Paltrow's outfit. I hope that trains are out of style by this year.

I just zipped through them all. I must say that in general, things have improved. Even a couple of day-length dresses and still too many trains.
But: In picture 6 showing the back of Sandra Bullock -- did nobody tell the woman on the left that her underwear was showing through her dress?
26 -- is about to lose her dress if she takes a step. Is it stuck on? 32 Emma Watson looks better from the front than the back. Does she have leggings on? 41 -- too much material stuck on the shoulder of that dress 42 U2 look like the Irish Mafia has arrived 50 Lena Dunham (who she?) looks like a large lemon 51 Tattooed arms are not a fashion statement, even when the dress is the same colour 55 Yick 65 Mary-Lou Retton should be told how to pose for a photograph 71 Berencie Bejo is French -- she should have better taste

I went through them all and have a lot of comments to make in that I love this topic. I didn't have time to remark on them all. The ones that I did, I will post soon, soon. One thing I did notice was the prevalence of ORANGE, personally, not one of my favored color choices.

Well, even though I adore this topic, I only managed to get through 71 pics before running out of steam. Really hate having to click through slideshows, plus why do they clutter up this important topic by including men.
Except for two people & their dresses, my impression was either fussy, ugly, stodgy, slutty, too old, too young and, in several cases, as though a quick trip to the thrift store had produced the first thing that sort of fit.
The two winners, of the pics I saw, just for glamor, fit, & real prettiness, were Taylor Swift and Michelle Dockery, with Michelle coming out ahead for excellent taste.

I managed to suffer through the photos and I will say that the most hideous things I saw were #50, #59 (and not because of the size of the wearer -- it looks like a janitor's uniform), #65, and #82.

#27 - Lizzy Caplan had the most attractive gown to my eye, looking at postage stamp sized images on an iPhone. I'll let you know if that changes when I can peruse the whole collection on the computer.

They've been doing that somehow not-right long hair look for a couple of years now. Witness this, so wrong on so many levels. She must have been adversely affected by the thin air of deep space: sandra bullockASK me how much I hate this fiddly-ass new format! I realize as a "helper" I shouldn't say that, but SHEESH!
