Thunderstorms are working their way across the country...
Although something like 98% of the tornadoes in the world reputedly take place in the United States and Canada, we have been having one or two tornadoes a year in France in recent times. If ever the tornado zone changes continent, nobody will be able to deny that climate change is really happening.

The entire time I lived in N.O., and no doubt for years before and after, the forecast was always "20% chance of rain".

Raining here tonight. It's beautiful to hear and smell - and tomorrow everything will be even greener than it already is.

The entire time I lived in N.O., and no doubt for years before and after, the forecast was always "20% chance of rain". I know,it always had been but then this "system" over us they were saying ZERO chance up until today which made me hopeful to hear even 20.

A storm passed really close to the city last night, but we did not get a drop of rain. However, temperatures are more comfortable today.

Just under 70° here, and very misty -- you can hardly see the mountains for the clouds. It rained gently all night, which is great since I planted seeds yesterday.
Love, love, love, love the rainy season!

"like living inside of a watermelon",my friend once said of this weather. I became nauseous a little while ago from working too long in it. Next summer I may hire some college kids to maintain the gardens like I did one summer and high tail it up to NY and work there.More $$,a real ocean, family.

The outside temperature is down to 20deg C and inside it's 25deg... so our heatwave is over. I hope it returns soon.

It is raining very hard here - just started - good thing as I was riding my bicycle about, and returned home with a lovely fresh baguette! Would not want to have soaked that.
bixa, I know NOTHING about the climate in southern Mexico; will look that up. Am pleasantly surprised by how mild Oaxaca is. (Sure, I knew DF was mild, but it is so polluted that I'd be hard-put to live there).

Another scorcher here today. Am hoping July will at least be kinder to us in the rain department. I may look further into digging a well for the garden.

We are still having spring here, today and the next week we look foward to highs of 20-24. We have only had one day when it reached 29. This is my most loved temperature range, I hate sweltering heat ...but I am looking forward to some sultry evenings.

Jazz, I like heat - 30s and even 40s in dry Italy - but not when the municipal workers are on strike and and trash is piling up everywhere and stinking to high heaven. Hope for your sake that the strike is settled soon. I'm cold this morning, though I appreciated the cool weather yesterday as I was doing housework and that is hard when it is very hot. I had too much to do to get it all done in the early morning (as Italians do).

"As the Italians do" and the Louisianans too. It is raining cajuns as we speak, music to my ears. God,do I miss that sound. Think I'll go down and take a dash through it!

Casimira, that is wonderful news! I'd been really feeling for your drought. Like Biblical plagues after the hurricane and flood.

Thank you Lagatta. Today is a 60% chance and thereabouts for the next couple days. Will be nice to get back to a pattern for this time of year here. It is one of the things that can make the summers here more bearable. Even if you can see the steam rising off the streets afterwards, everything takes on a lush, green, tropical jungle feel. Psychologically, does wonders too.

No rain for about 2 weeks in Paris, although nearby areas had storm showers. This morning as I went out, there was a tiny sprinkle, not even enough to wet the sidewalk. People will be complaining about the lack of rain soon.

We finally had a real, classic June/July Oaxaca rainy season rain this afternoon. First big, towering beautiful clouds, then a sudden huge, deafening downpour. Then it was over, except for some rolling thunder and the sun looking golden and beautiful against the lead-colored sky. (and everyone around here can thank me for this, since I had my just-washed down comforter on the clotheline )
