Glad to see winter is losing its grip where you all live.
It is hot here and it's the time of the year where the sun is terribly strong. Even well-watered plants droop in the morning sunshine. This is the time of year when the snowbirds scamper home.

It has been warm in the sun and out of the wind, but that wind has been blowing strongly for several days now and it definitely makes it feel cooler. I just had a quick look at the forecast and it seems to be pretty nice (mid-teens) and no rain for the next week.
We actually didn't really have much winter this year. There were only a couple of days with a bit of frost in the morning. Of course, it's not finished yet.

Happy for you all who are experiencing warmer temperatures and signs of spring! There is no indication of that here as of yet. While we are enjoying a beautiful sunny day, it is a still chilly -8C. We have the highest recorded snow depths is over 20 years. The thought of the melt to come, hopefully at the end of next month, is a bit scary, flooding will be almost certain.

In late fall, I read a short article on the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) website: a farmer in Wakefield (in Quebec, not far from Ottawa and from where my son lives) saying that wild animals were coming to his farm and eating his animals' food stocks. He therefore predicted a cold winter. The head climatologist of Canada was quoted as saying,"no it will be a mild winter". Ha! Guess who was right.

The milder weather seems to have set in at last, up to around 14C in London, and some sunlight and flowers at last. The trouble is, it's obviously cooler at night and in the early mornings, so I'm in that phase of constantly having to turn the heating up and down, swap woollies and so on: and what's even more annoying, my room thermometer tells me the flat's at a more or less constant comfortable level. Old age creeps on. My blog | My photos | My video clips | My Librivox recordings"too literate to be spam"

Beautiful sunny day here now, temp 57F say 14C.
seems we are in danger of setting a 'warmest' February mark.
And tell me about the age related heating problems Patrick, I keep taking off a jumper and then putting it back on

-16.6F (-27C) last night. Waiting for it to warm up enough to go skiing. -5F (-20C) at 10AM. This might take awhile. At least it’s a glorious sunny day.

Remarkable February day. Warm with a cloudless sky and the next 4 days are forecast identical.
No doubt we shall suffer for it somewhere along the line.

I just went for a long walk and it was too hot in the sun! 20°c and sunshine, blue sky. It is supposed to change at the end of next week but not get too cold, just rainy.

It's been a lovely day here...not as warm as yesterday but the sky has been a lovely bright spring blue. Perfect gardening weather.

Another week of 36-40C days coming up, then I hope it will settle into autumn.
Fantastic to see the vast sheet of water from the recent floods now flowing into the centre of the continent, filling all the dry creeks and salt pan lakes. Within a few weeks the fish and frogs who bury themselves and only appear after rain will be breeding and sea birds fly in from the coast 1,000km away for easy pickings.

This time last year we were dealing with The Beast from the East so I'm a little uneasy about all the blue skies and sunshine atm. Could I be any more British?

Today was a record breaking 9th day of the February temperature in Paris being above 15°. And this might continue for another 5 or 6 days.

Record in Belgium, too: 18.8°C. More of this in the next two days, and even a bit warmer.

I can't, for the life of me, understand why there are so many scientific people who can't SEE and FEEL the globe heating up.
South Australia is largely a grower of wine grapes, cereal crops and agriculture generally. The farmers would sow in autumn after the hot dry summer and the rains came in autumn and winter and the harvest as summer came round.
On TV was an item last week...some farmers are going to move the cycle and plant in winter for a better chance of getting rain and a crop. It will cause some difficulties in that the harvest will be at the hottest time and fire hazards more likely.
Meanwhile, in the Pacific, small countries are sinking below the ocean level...

Coldest February I can ever remember here. And it's not like it isn't always a cold month anyway. I may have to go to Italy to find Spring this year, I'm losing faith in it ever happening here.

Paris is supposed to get up to 19° tomorrow with plenty of pollution. Speed limits were already lowered a few days ago, but now they will be applying the pollution stickers for the next few days, which prevent the oldest and most polluting vehicles from entering the city. Of course it is quite difficult and labour intensive for the authorities to enforce this. Basically they just hope that drivers will have heard the news.

Rain, rain, rain here...and no end in sight.
Making for a soggy Carnival last week of parades and such a disappointment to many.
The Bonne Carre Spillway (it opens up the Mississippi River into Lake Pontchartrain and reeks havoc with the food chain) is scheduled to be opened up tomorrow, very early. Usually when it is deemed necessary doesn't occur until late March or April.
Temperatures are mild albeit erratic ranging from mid 50F's to low 80F's and of course humid as all get out.
Easy weeding in the garden when I can get out there is a plus.

It was sunny and low 20s here on the coast. No rain for a while either, I can see plants in the garden looking droopy. The rain forecast for Thursday seems to have been postponed a few days. It is supposed to be a bit cooler tomorrow too.

At 1 pm it’s 5F (-15C) in Montana, and Mr. Kimby snowblowered 8” of white stuff out of our 200’ long driveway so I could go to a meeting that ended up being cancelled because of road conditions.
Heading out to a doctor appt soon, so I’ll find out just how bad it is.
