A beautiful sunny day. A cold start but it's supposed to be 15° in the afternoon. We're going for a 50 km bike ride amid the apple & pear blossoms in Zeeland, Holland.

looks nice and sunny, and is supposed to stay that way. 9° now, supposed to go up to 15° today, so good for our cycling tour i suppose. just hope there isn't too much pollen, as my eyes are already itching slightly now, and i haven't even left the house yet.

We are supposed to be half way into Autumn, chilly mornings and evenings...lovely days around 28C. Occasional showers, happy plants. Instead we have days over 34C, hot nights and plants that are totally confused. The drought covering most of S.E, Australia is cutting into the whole country. We are running down on milk and bread flour.

We just spent 4 days near Bordeaux. The forecast had been for warm weather but there was a lot of wind so it never felt all that warm, except in the sun in a sheltered area. I don't think it got over 20°, and with wind. One day we went to the Bassin d'Arcachon. There were some tourists in shorts and one guy standing in the water flying a kite, but the locals all had coats on.

24 this afternoon. It was only 8 a week ago so the body hasn’t had time to adjust. A struggle to do any garden work this afternoon.

Looking better for you from Sunday questa. Hottest April on record. Tradition here is that Easter is the time that you get any house painting done...a 4 day break, not enough for a holiday away but enough to do the painting without having to rush and weather usually good. Not this year, most paint companies advise not to paint when Temp is >30 degrees. Oh...the confusion!

Meanwhile in Finland

That Finnish picture reminds me that I just had a mail from my son in Canada reassuring me that their house hasn't flooded with all the rain falling on still frozen ground. They live right on the Ottawa River, so the break-up of the ice, plus the rain has everyone worried about the flooding like last year. The town is handing out sandbags but our son's house is set about 2 metres above the water and back about 30 metres, so he is hoping it will be okay.
Meanwhile, here in southwestern France it's sunny and 21°, with wind blowing from the north. It's often like this at this time of year: warmer in the north than in the south.

We had the loveliest weather for our bike ride in the 'garden of the Netherlands'. Apple blossoms all over. So pretty!

Hoping it does not get as bad as is being forecasted bjd! There are many people rightly stressed right now. The city I live in is under a flood watch as well as a few creeks that run through the city are expected to flood their banks soon. We have a little creek between us and our neighbour. It is alright at the moment but Thursday it was like a waterfall and had bursting over in a few areas that was causing concern but it seems okay now. 10C today with part sun and cloud. Very happy winter is over!

We had rain today, not a huge amount but enough for the farmers to start seeding as we may get 2 more days of it. With any sort of luck, parts of the drought stricken south-east may get rain too.

Waiting for a better part of spring. We are beginning the day at around 5° and ending up with about 17°. I want more. I understand temperatures might be below average but we are enjoying the weather so far! Except for the rainy afternoon we had in St. Malo it has been welcomed from what we were experiencing at home. Actually got a bit of a sunburn on my face yesterday in Chartres after having a few drinks at an outdoor cafe. Hoping Sunday will be a nice day in Paris, anything without pouring rain will be appreciated!

Unfortunately, I've never been to St Malo... Lots of flooding problems around here, even on the island of Mtl and Laval, the large suburb on the island just north of ours. I haven't heard from my cousin in Gatineau, have to send her an e-mail.
Nasty rain and hail; I'm not going to the May Day march (which will be nothing like Paris!)Our Black bloc types have pretty much disappeared. Also because I have to read up because I'm interpreting at a conference tomorrow.
