With a little luck, today was our last excessively warm day, at least for this episode. I have vivid memories of little heat waves in both September and October.

i think here the temperatures are supposed to go down tomorrow or on monday, too, though i have mixed feelings about it. on the one hand, it is too hot and colder temperatures are normal at this time of year, on the other hand, i'd kind of like more summer ...

Yes, where the moths are. A growing problem. I don't I've bought anything in recent months, except socks, a t-shirt and a bra.

It was only 12° this morning when I got up because the sky was clear overnight. It's sunny and nice though and supposed to be 24° later.

it has cooled down and someone recently mentioned it being so cold - it isn't actually that cold, still around 20°C - but after the heat wave it feels kind of cold. unfortunately, so far rain is announced for the weekend - my dad's wife was planning to do a huge outdoors party for her 51st (as she didn't celebrate her 50th), and also i was considering cycling there and back with agnes ...

Hope you have clear skies, Rikita.
It was an oppressive 89 here today -- one degree hotter than the record high temperature on this day in 1996. But now (almost 11 pm) it is in the low 70s and, praise Tlaloc, raining lightly on and off. This is so refreshing after several very hot days.

Another cool morning, 13°, with clear skies. Lovely sunny weather here and mid-20s in the afternoons but we really need some rain.

A beautiful fall day and evening. Watching the U.S. Open (Andreescu versus Bencic) which makes me feel so much of the fall season but also I should be packing for our usual fall holiday (but not this year!). My husband awaits his appointment to determine if a second surgery is necessary or a return to work approval?

Autumn is definitely arriving in Paris (happy about that), but I know there are still one or two hot relapses in store. Out in the provinces, they are actually expecting hard frost in a day or two, although it warms up during the day.

I have been waiting two (2!) weeks for the municipal water to come in so I could do all the accumulated laundry. I've also endured days of muggy heat.
Today the water came in. I washed tons of stuff. The last load was almost dry. And then it rained.

But you don't have a way to really collect rain water anyway, do you? My grandparents had a barrel under the rainspout from the roof, which usually contained enough water for the kitchen garden. If not, they filled it with the hose.

Kerouac, I do collect rain water. I have three covered 100-liter containers full of hoarded rain water. And when it rains, I put out a collection of buckets to catch the runoff from the roof. When it's hot and dry for several days, those buckets get used rapidly. The hoarded rain water is saved for special plants, although in extreme drought it would have to pressed into service as well.
When the city water comes in & my rain buckets are empty, they all get filled with regular tap water. Also, I shower with a basin to catch that water so it can be used for flushing the toilet.

The continuing drought in Oz is causing our bushfire season to explode now rather than December. Major fires in Queensland and NSW have destroyed many houses and historic places, stock and agricultural land. A fleet of water bombers are fighting day and night and they are running out of water. The politicians have finally realized that Climate change is a fact of life and this coming summer is going to be the worst on record for fires. There are murmurings about bringing back the death penalty for arsonists who cause death.

Terrible Questa. Tomorrow's weather here is going to be exceptionally good maybe 24C / 25C but then we have rain forecast. TBH we really need it - the ground is hard and dry. Good weather likely to return in a week or so.

Rain! soaking rain over much of the S.E. of Oz. Let's hope it keeps up.
Some of our TV ads are using water usage as a way to sell their product and educate at the same time.
E.G. Don't pre-rinse your dishes before putting them in your dishwasher. You can save 40 litres a day by using (Product) which will still give totally clean results.
Or...Use our toothpaste but don't leave the water running while you brush, turn the tap on just to rinse and save water. *big, shiny grin in the mirror.*

I hope you get lots of rain, Questa. Here we had rain in the night and this morning but it has stopped and the sun is coming out. 22° at the moment.
re your ads about not leaving taps running while you brush your teeth. I'm surprised that people still need to be told that, especially in a country where you have such droughts.

A bit cloudy and very warm at the September equinox. (New austral/boreal "inclusive" name for it). But they are threatening us with another nasty, icy winter (because of constant freezes and melts). I'm really afraid of that as I got a bit out of shape. I didn't put on weight, but didn't get in enough walking and certainly don't cycle when it is icy. Remember that this isn't just *me*, it can be a public health problem.

Steady rain setting in here, and we are promised a lot more over the coming days. That will make a real change as we have been totally spoiled with summer weather. Possibly the climate change warnings will get through some of the biggest heads.
