Just after we gave up on waiting for skiing to get good and left for town it started snowing at the lake. Ski area reports 7 inches! Much needed and I’m glad for them. Hope it keeps up. We don’t ski on weekends anyway. Avoiding the crowds is where we’re at these days. (On most things, actually. Becoming recluses, I fear.)

Foggy and 6° this morning so everything looks damp outside. It is supposed to be around 13° later on today. No rain predicted until Thursday.

It was quite windy this morning. There is an Italian cypress outside my bedroom window, so the first thing I see when I wake up. This morning it was whipping around like a whirligig. But that wind died down and turned into the best kind of warm breeze. Today was glorious -- warm and sunny and so welcome. It got up to 81 today! Tomorrow is supposed to be the same.

Sunshine this afternoon, it has warmed up the house so quickly after a cloudy damp feeling morning. Temperature is about -1C as the snow continues to melt, with hardly any left on the roof when normally we would have over a foot of snow up there.

So, it snowed overnight, the first snow we have had in 3 weeks, but we got very little, and it has melted now.
We have open areas where you can see the grass and also, we now have NO snow on our roof! We would normally have at least 18 inches to 2 feet up there at this time of the year. In our 27 years living here we have never not had snow on our roof in February. While understanding this is actually not a good thing, I could though enjoy having this winter every year.
It is cloudy today and about 2C.

We are finally getting some snow in Montana. Still not enough for good downhill skiing, but we had a lovely cross-country ski this afternoon. More snow expected tomorrow, so may finally hit the slopes on Tuesday.

Good balanced view of your weather conditions, Mich!
Kimby, I am happy for you. I know you were disappointed in conditions when you first got back to Montana.
It was sunny today and downright hot! The high was 82/almost 28c! I mowed the back forty and gloried in the sunshine. It was 87 in Oaxaca today, ha ha.

That's how yesterday was here, plus it got a lot colder at night. There is peek-a-boo weak sun today. The Aztec lily bravely opened yesterday, which wasn't so nice for its petals. Here is a picture. The last time I showed it blooming (Dec.3, 2023, Botanical Perspectives), Fumobici said, "it looks huge even if it actually isn't". I countered by claiming that it was at least 8" horizontally. Well, I just measured this bloom: 8 1/2" side to side and 9" top to bottom.

This morning, I woke to a brilliant white covering of fresh snow. The trees are laden with the puffy snow. My husband has gone to town to do a quick clean up around his father's car and then will spend a few hours outside clearing the driveway and parking areas here. It was about -5C this morning but is now around 0C.

Snow, Snow, SNOW! All day and into tomorrow. It seems we are making up for the nice weather we had. We are not getting anything like the amounts they got in Nova Scotia this past week (some places up to 150 cm of snow!) just more that we were becoming nicely used to!

Still not enough snow to interest us in paying to downhill ski. But went cross-country again this afternoon. I didn’t realize how cold it had gotten: 11F, and I wore the wrong gloves. My hands were so cold by the time we returned to the car. Painfully so. But a few minutes inside and I was back to normal, so no frostbite.

A bit of sunshine, but mostly cloudy again today. It has gotten quite cold compared to the past 3 weeks, it was -23C this morning, but this afternoon it is -14C, tomorrow it is expected to be -1C and around that for the remainder of the week. So only a couple really cold days this winter so far!

6° this morning although it has been fairly mild lately. It doesn't really feel like spring yet, although there are trees in bloom, like mimosas and a wild plum tree in our garden. Lots of rain and high winds forecast again for the next week or more, so maybe the rain will give everything a boost.

Is it a good bit rainier there than when you lived near Toulouse?

Yes, it rains more here but it's also winter at the moment so it's not unusual to have rain. It can be very hot and dry in summer though.
