This is an interesting video about a trove of records made by a studio engineer between 1936 and 1940. The heirs to the collection donated it to the National Jazz Museum (US), where the approximately 1,000 discs were found to be in terrible condition. I was amazed to see how low-tech the initial stages of restoration are. It's exciting to hear the music emerge out of blurred scratchiness to the real sound of something played seventy years ago. =================================================================== Try this at home? This is all way over my head, but I went through some sites to find a couple that give guidance for people wanting to transfer their vinyl music collection to cd: recordrestoration.com/www.a-reny.com/restauration/restaurmethode.htmlhome page for the above, w/intro & choice of French or English: www.a-reny.com/iexplorer/restauration.html
