They did a few years back. Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were 2 of the best fast bowlers ever.

They had some high potential players who made some poor choices in match-fixing and maybe won't play again. Such a shame because they love their cricket. In Peshawar, a place regarded as dangerous for tourists, I 'chatted' with 2 men about the Pakistani and Oz teams. We would say the name of a player then frown a bit, thinking. Then a thumbs up or down or a horizontal palm down gesture for 'maybe'.Great fun.

Apparently they did one at Lords...I saw a photo of the crane lowering it in. However they are making for boring matches as the pitches lack character and are being prepared all the same.(and no-one is afraid of the WACA anymore)

Exciting times for George. A 5 day Test Match between England and India started at Lords on Thursday and George has been called up for all 5 days as a practice bowler to both teams. He was also there on Wednesday bowling in the outdoor nets to Virat Kohli, the India captain and probably the best batsman in the world at present.

George still has that DK Lillee look around his eyes and business like smile. How did his bowling go with the visitors? He is really good looking, prepare to be over-run with nubile wenches once he has made his name.

Unfortunately I can’t post them but I have videos of him bowling to Kohli who is very respectful and even edged one delivery to gully!
He got Alistair Cook out twice, bowled Joe Root and had Buttler stumped.

George was bowling in the nets to some of the Indian players yesterday in front of a crowd of 3,000!
He says all of the Indian players have been very respectful and always thank him for bowling whereas the pleasure is really all his!
The English players seem to be rather stand-offish.

Botham. Tuffnell and Gower were the only ones I remember as playing with the crowd and NOT being stand-offish

Freddie Flintoff would be like that too.
Actually the only English players he really got on with well were Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid, British Asians. Bu then it could just be they were all spinners together!
Moeen even gave George his mobile number and asked him to keep in touch!

Perhaps most of the English players save their camraderie for high tea in the private clubs?

That's right K2, cucumber sandwiches and scones with strawberry jam and cream. piano/violin/clarinet softly playing music from old West End musicals, The men all replaying their best shots to anyone who'll listen....you've got it!

I would prefer to have "low" tea with the players of other ethnicities, perhaps with some samosas or some West Indian accras.

At Lords again with George but this time but this time we were in the holy of holies - the pavilion. No photos allowed inside though. View from the pavilion - a view of the pavilion - this is the Nursery ground which is mainly used for practice and the odd amateur game. Called the Nursery ground because it was once a plant nursery. Here's a couple for questa - One old gentleman - And the arch poseur - short fairy poems

The goal is set...8/37 or 9 for. He just oozes appeal for the young ladies...you will have to supply a body guard as he gets more famous. What tie is he wearing?
Oh...there is a cricket ground in the pictures as well. With a flying saucer to boot. Not your first time in the Pavilion, I would guess. I'd like to see the "Long Room" but not a chance.

Been in the pavilion 3 times, once for a funeral!
The tie is Australian! Australian Old Collegians from my 1970's tour. He borrowed it.
The flying saucer is the Media Centre.

Hey, what about Dwayne Bravo? you don't need to follow the game to appreciate his performance yesterday. He crashed 5 consecutive balls out of the arena in a match against Australia. The resounding THOK that was bat hitting ball was sweet.

The India England Test series has ended with England winning 4-1 but it was nothing like as one sided as it looks. For me that was the best since the 2005 Ashes series. Riveting.

They have had some rain or a good sprinkler system. That outfield looks like it would be a bit slow. Do you play much under lights? With long Summer evenings I didn't think they would be used much.

I suppose you have read the scores and players' details so this is just a finishing touch. Each team had a top/mid-order collapse to start each innings, then steadied and good cricket with lower order players doing the job. All of the days produced some great hitting and fielding and there was no time when anyone could say cricket was boring.
On the 5th day the 1st ball took the last Indian wicket and Oz had to play for a draw or make 323 to win. Time was lost as a downpour of rain hit the field.a battle between Sharma and Ashwin v Lyon and Hazlewood ensued. Lyon survived LBW but Ishant overstepped! Lyon then hit a 4. and HZwood added another 4. Things were tense here as we realised these 2 last batsmen were aiming to win, not draw. As each single was made the Oz fans went wild and a dot ball had the large contingent of Indian dancing in the stand
Last ball before tea Ashwin has Hzwood caught at 2nd slip. Everyone goes crazy.
Nathan Lyon carries the nickname GOAT... this got shortened to 'Guzza' which is what the kids in the stand yell out. He holds the record for the most Test wickets taken by an Australian off-spin bowler thus earning the nickname amongst teammates of "GOAT", which stands for "Greatest of All Time"

When I first saw Lyon I didn’t think much of him - what do I onow?!
Next Test Melbourne on 26th?
Scrub that. I see they are playing now.
