Before the outcome of the election here at least two persons I know (both well traveled) said they seriously considered expating to Nicaragua. Any thoughts or comments on why there? Obviously I asked them but am interested in others.

I would love to hear anything about Nicaragua. I know nothing about the country.

I love Nicaragua. Think of it as everything that Costa Rica is but at just 25% the cost. If I were in the market to buy a property I'd likely buy in Leon.

I want to hear more about Nicaragua. I live in Mexico, which has some pretty stiff inflation. Although I love it here, I need to have a fall-back plan. Normal says above, "everything that Costa Rica is ..........", which doesn't help me since I don't know much about CR. While we wait for responses, here's a little story about an economic boost to Nicaragua: www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5ji5KXEhKQljkdYHc97xwlNrzcu5gD965ITA80

well alright then, but keep in mind that I only spent a week in Nica. and that was last year. I'll put my prices in American dollars. Everyone I met was friendly and more than helpful. Meals were three to four dollars. Hotels were five to seven dollars a night. Bus fares no more that three. Nicaragua has everything a person could want, from jungle to beaches to mountains. Beautiful colonial buildings. Hitchhiking is accepted.
