Thought I'd put in a word for the City near to where I work. It really is beautiful and fascinating and if you are in the UK please try to put it on your list.

Gosh, I don't know if I believe you or not. Possibly photos and facts would help to convince me!

Believe me honey.......... ;D
I'll see what I can sort out.
I was there yesterday afternoon - could have taken loads of pictures..........
It's one of our two major University towns, Oxford being the other. Lots of ancient architecture.

Agree with Mick that any visitor to the UK should try to get away from London to visit Cambridge or else Oxford for at least one full day. I've only been there on business thus I have never taken my camera there either but I thought I would add to the suspense here.

You're trying to get Mick off the hook, Myrt?! Those are gorgeous pictures. Still, Mick has a great eye, so he's gonna get badgered for photos. And now you, Myrt, have revealed inside knowledge. Prepared to be badgered for info! ;D And p.s. ~~ welcome & thanks for that fabulous gallery of pictures.

I have just been fortunate enough to acquire the Head of Classics at Cambridge as a client. Terrific character.
Mick has a great eye only matched by his great nose.......... ;D

Inside knowledge...? I have lived within about 50 miles of Cambridge for most of my life but I still can't drive round it or through it without getting lost! Not a city type, me......

Mick, I have a good friend who lives in Cambridge, she's always raving about it. If I get the chance, maybe next time I'm in the UK, I'll definitely like to spend a day to two up there.

I'm wondering, will anyone ever get a chance to take some pictures of Cambridge?

Hope so. Cambridge also has the highest bicycle modal share in the UK. (And it is a beautiful town).
Bixa, as with Birmingham, the USians even named a same-industry town for it!!! That town is beautiful too, though it pretty much melts into Boston.

I paid a fleeting visit just before Xmas to pick up my son who is currently living there. Unfortunately I did not take any photos but next time ..
In the meantime I will see if my son can oblige with a couple.

That would be nice, Lugg. I have no idea the size of the city. Do you think there'd be enough to see to justify a couple days visit?

Thank you Nycgirl. The boat is known as punt but is moved along in a similar way to a gondola. Here is a link to everything you might want to know about punts according to the world of wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punt_(boat)

Lugg, I think it's pretty amazing your son took these pictures with an iPhone. They are really great shots of the iconic buildings and bridges.

Thank you both. My son has moved on now, working for his party in another constituency . However his girlfriend is still there until June when she completes her post grad course. So maybe he will get chance to take a few more photos.
