I love love love Internet Archive and made a list of books that I have been unable to find in any library in Pennsylvania but that are available on Internet Archive. The list is available for when we hit a dry spell at our best nearby public library. Or we get snowed in, whichever comes first.
Just today I consulted it for a recipe that didn't make sense to me. Internet Archive had the book and I was able to find the exact recipe and a photo of the results.
Reading back through the last 6 months of this thread, I'm wondering which of the books you were about to buy turned out to be really good.

Oh, thanks for that, Breeze! It makes me even more eager to dig through the Internet Archive. Re: what can I recommend from what I bought in the last six months ~~ When I read that, I arbitrarily clicked on page seven of this thread. There is a post from Htmb stating that she's clicked on books to buy from Amazon only to find she already owns them. That made me feel marginally better about how many I have which have not yet been read nor, for that matter, been remembered as part of my digital library. I will go through the last six months to winnow out what I've considered worthy. In the meantime, page seven rendered something I truly enjoyed. This was one of those books about which I suspended judgment, suspecting that it wouldn't be all that good. I was wrong! The author not only did extensive research, she is quite good at fleshing out her characters. As the story moves through all three books (apparently a fourth is forthcoming), you painlessly absorb a great deal of fascinating history. There may be a tad more than you wanted to know here & there in the series, but it's reassuring to know that in-depth research was done. And hey -- the second book teaches you how to be a galley slave, should you ever need a career change. I joke, but I did read all of the series one right after the other. Just to ice the cake, each one is quite cheap to buy: www.amazon.com/stores/author/B08NT4VXDH/allbooksWhether or not you read historical fiction, it's probable that you know someone who enjoys it. This book would seem to be a worthy read for anyone who likes the genre ~

Amazing offer today. 50 books you must read before you die it said. For just £0.75p! Finally! Someone has posted about bargain ebooks from a non-US source, something we've been needing all along. Grateful though I am, it must be pointed out that SHOW is as important as TELL in this kind of sharing. No matter, I have found the very tempting offer on Amazon UK. I'm assuming that it's also available from other outlets in the UK and possibly other countries. Best of all, if you scroll down on the page you will find sixty-three similar offers, some for as little as £0.49. Here is a book that some may have read long ago or always meant to read. For lovers of classic fantasy, this seems a necessary addition to the digital bookshelf ~ Since I had the Amazon UK page open, I decided to see if the Tolkien bargain was available there as well and yes, it is. It can be yours for a mere £2.99.
Some of these classic books or collections thereof appear to have been produced by the Gutenberg Project, meaning that the works are in the public domain & thus more likely to be available for a bargain price in several countries. Note that when I open a non-US Amazon page, Amazon knows that I am in Mexico. Thus, I'm unsure how that affects what they show me. At any rate, it certainly seems worthwhile to check if anything shown in this thread is also offered at a discount rate in your own countries.

And no link for Hardy either?
Mick, the offers I share here come to me in emails as well. When I click on an offer, it is a simple matter to copy the url for the page.

I am currently reading & very much enjoying Memory Wall by Anthony Doerr. Are there any committed readers who have not yet read All the Light We Cannot See? It is a wonderful introduction to this author, although I happened to have read his About Grace first, a book I plan to re-read simply because of the breadth of the author's imagination. His Cloud Cuckoo Land disappointed me, but I'll have to give it another chance on the strength of how many people like it. At any rate, Memory Wall is again dazzling me with the strength of Doerr's always believable imagination and the excellence of his prose. www.theguardian.com/books/2011/feb/05/memory-wall-anthony-doerr-reviewHere is your chance to snap up Memory Wall for only $1.99 ~

This is back on sale & I have updated the url to access the deal. Even if you never cook a single thing from the book, it's a fascinating cultural document not only about Oaxacan food, but Mexican food and ingredients in general. Be sure to access that link to the index as well. Ooooo, y'all ~ look at this! Diana Kennedy's Oaxaca al Gusto is on sale right now for $1.99. Yes, you read that right, but be aware that I just now stumbled across this deal, so it may not last. If you do acquire the book, a lovely person on Reddit created an invaluable index to it. Tarry not!

This won the Whitbread Prize in 1975. Much of the dialogue is written in the accent &/or dialect of a fictional Ayrshire mining town, but that seems manageable even to me, a person unfamiliar with how people speak in that area. Do dip into "look inside" for a taste of the really phenomenal prose.

We all know we can't be mossie , but we can access some of his knowledge of clouds here ~ I checked Amazon UK and Amazon.fr, where the book is available for £3.99 and 3,99€, respectively, so probably worth checking digital outlets in other countries, as well.

Today those of us with access to the US digital book outlets have an opportunity to acquire an important novel for our libraries. I imagine several anyporters have already read this book in the original French, but may want the English-language version too. Kerouac has shown us, through historical notes and family reminiscences, the impact of WWII in the French countryside, a theme addressed in the second section of Suite française. Beyond the historical importance, the book has been praised for its literary merit. Using the "look inside" feature, the first paragraph will quickly convince one of that merit.

Has everyone read this already? It's not my favorite García Márquez, probably because I measure it against the sublime Hundred Years of Solitude. Nevertheless, at $1.99, I acquired it for my digital library in order to give it another chance. The only other outlet I checked was AmazonUK, where it's available for £4.99 in the Kindle edition.

I was excited to see this offered at a bargain price this morning, as I absolutely loved this book and now you all can too. War and battlefield medicine are themes I'm more likely to avoid than to read about, but I'm so glad I set aside my squeamishness and was rewarded with Mason's glorious writing. If you're on the fence, just scan through the Editorial Reviews on the book's page linked below.

Those who follow this thread know that even though I link to AmazonUS for the books featured here, those books are also available at the same price through Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, etc. That's fine, but what about those of you with no access to the US vendors? When you see a book on short-term bargain price in this thread, you can check your own country's digital book sellers to see if they have a similar offer. You can also try what I just tried, which is to google something like this, adjusting for your country: amazon fr kindle books in english. That hit paydirt in the form of a dedicated page for books in English with short-term bargain prices: www.amazon.fr/Promo-Ebooks-Kindle-En-Anglais/b?ie=UTF8&node=2372193031
