The elevators on line 14 are easy to find -- that is definitely one thing not to worry about.

Thanks - I know the cobble stones might be a little bumpy, but we'll just pretend it's a Fun Fair ride ;-) So now just hoping it'll be open again - we are there from 12/22 - 12/28. I have added several other ideas from you I found here. This being our 3rd time (but this time with the added challenge of accessibility) we wanted to do something different. ;D

Since the dates were just announced for this year (thank you for letting us know Kerouac) I am getting very excited as it is getting closer to our trip!! Now the only thing I have to decide is if we are going to take the M14 or Bus 24…. since we will have the wheel chair!!
Thanks again for this fantastic report - I would have never known about it!

Both the bus and that metro line are wheelchair accessible -- it will mostly depend on where you are coming from. Both bus 24 and metro line 14 start from Saint Lazare.

We are at Ile de la Cite and the RATP Website has me going to Chatelet from there for the 14 and Petit Pond with bus 24.

I continued to explore this dark universe which would both enthrall children and frighten them at the same time. After going through the photos again last night I realized that I actually had been on these "boat swings" in Germany when I was little (like 7/8/9) - and they were one of my favorite rides (I grew up in a tiny town and our little fairs usually only had one major ride). They break with a wooden plank on the bottom that the fairground person would slowly raise to slow down your momentum from the swing. I felt so grown up and cool standing in the middle of the boat and swinging as high as possible. I think we got about 2 minutes or maybe 3? Never seemed long enough right? LOL

Yes, me too, I remember being in a swing like that in eastern France when I was about 6 years old.

We went this morning (our only chance and of course the first "open" day) and it was fantastic - however I have never seen so many children in one place in my life!!! since we had a wheel chair it was a little harder to maneuver the courtyard - but it was doable with a little finesse I am too tired to post the photos today BUT one thing I have to tell you Kerouac…. the horses ass in the courtyard has lost its tail Will post tomorrow the bicycle carrousel was awesome (I didn't ride it, but just watching was fun) - the lines were very very long… again - did I mention the hordes of children?

I can't wait to see your pictures! But I am also glad that I went there before it was "discovered" as being such a wonderful place.

You certainly have a better camera than I did when I took my pictures. Then again, so do I now. I can't quite bring myself to say "what a shame that it was so crowded" because I am glad that more people have discovered the place. Maybe we can hope that it will be open more regularly in the future and not just after Christmas or by appointment only.

Thanks LOL - yes I agree. Although I think it's kind of cool that you got to experience it when it was a little more "mysterious" I am glad that we were one of the lucky ones to discover it through you …. because otherwise we'd never known about it! I also hope it'll be a little more accessible in the future

This is what I came to Any Port to find (when I discovered the Christmas 2016 posts) because I think a visit to this place would rank up with my top choices were I there around Christmas. And it's open December 26th to January 2nd, 10 am to 6 pm www.arts-forains.com/index_anglais.phpIf problems with TT led to more contributions like this then while TT has less of your knowledge & wisdom, those who know/discover Any Port are richer for the time you spend on it. I am selfish. Now that I find out what's going on via FB I don't need a reminder to stay current.

That link makes me happy, gabriele, because last year they had changed the scheme and made it only accessible via prior reservations at Christmas... supposedly. I suppose that in reality it was open to walk-ins, but I didn't even try. I do understand that it is a private commercial endeavor which rents itself out most of the time to private functions, but I still think it is a shame that it is only open to the general public after Christmas now.
Of course, this proves that it is now extremely popular after being extremely unknown for so many years. With a little luck, it might be taken over by the city or the central government some day to develop it a bit more and make it abailable to everybody most of the time.
