If there's another thread where this belongs,I don't see it. I do recall Kerouac taking/telling us about some night time adventures long ago down there... I remember one expedition that I did with a friend (but in the suburb of Houilles rather than Paris). We emerged totally crusted with mud at dawn, but when we got back to Paris, we had breakfast at a McDonald's and pretended that our appearance was totally ordinary.
When I reflect back at this particular night, this was probably the most dangerous thing that I have ever done. We were a group of 20 or so, with our guide who went by the name of Papy (I never leared what his real name was.). This trip was like going into an abandoned, flooded mine with rotten timbers holding up the ceiling (or not) and quite a bit of crawling on all fours to get through the tight spots. I loved it!
