Oh ~~ I thought you were going to show the photos from your trip, Kimby.
Are yours digital, or do you have to scan them first?

Tods are soooo much better than ours which are slides and I don't have a slide scanner yet.

If I can get on my soapbox for a moment ~~ this forum is not about competition. Some of the most enjoyable threads are about supposedly mundane subjects, often illustrated with pictures taken on the fly or with faded scanned analog pictures. It's the enthusiasm and generosity of the thread-maker that draws us in. So -- it's still winter where you are. What better use of your time than obtaining and using a slide scanner?

Yes, Yes! I second that suggestion! Kimby we also have Kruger photos from our past trips which are not up to the standard of our latest camera action only because we now have very expensive big powerful lenses and have adapted our way of getting some good shots. Do you know the first time we went there it was without binocs and maybe even a camera!! I am also very intrigued about how you decided to come to Kruger and why you did not book ahead! Please give us a bit more background .....or point out what I may not have read in your report;)

I didn't mean to make it sound like a competition. But when you've seen one lion/elephant/cheetah you've sorta seen them all. And tod's pics are the ones you want to see, as they are so good. So -- it's still winter where you are. What better use of your time than obtaining and using a slide scanner? Finishing our lake cottage, perhaps? Plus even if I HAD a scanner, slide film often produces overexposed images that might be hard to buff up enough to post on here. The leopard we saw so enchanted us that we forgot to take pictures of it! So I wouldn't have much to add to the splendid array of photos tod posted. But IF I get a scanner someday, I promise I will try to post some of our older trip images. I am also very intrigued about how you decided to come to Kruger and why you did not book ahead! Because we were arriving in November, we knew it was shoulder season and there would be rooms available somewhere. We often travel that way. We hesitate to lock into something sight unseen and not have the flexibility to arrive earlier or later or choose a different lodging option. We have yet to be forced to sleep in our car! As for choosing Kruger, we had done the Kenya Tanzania land-rover type guided safaris and were attracted to a more do-it-yourself type of wildlife watching trip.

I still have a zillion slides to scan, so I can unfortunately confirm that having a slide scanner is only step 1.
