Too lovely, Mick! The 3rd one down in particular is going to keep me happy all day. Oooo ~ azalea madness! Great picture, Htmb.

Thanks, Bixa. I took the photo outside my daughter's new office during a moment of boredom. Because of the rainy weather I had my little, old Lumix and it still seems to do a great job with close-up photos.

I have that same Lumix & I swear it takes better closeups than my good camera.

Hm ... I don't know. It's a bush that we took from my mom's garden after she passed away. I will look it up. Edit: it's called Ribes sanguineum.

Thanks! I looked that up and it's common name is flowering currant, native to western United States and Canada. That means it's just as exotic to me as it is to you!

Curse you for torturing me with Spring as I look out the window at our sixth(!) consecutive week of snow and unseasonal cold. I mean thank you for the pretty look at what even we here will eventually have as well.

Fumobici, that sounds very odd in your climate zone.
We've had an utterly horrid winter; especially lots of ice - very hard to eliminate. At least the weather seems to have turned for the better. I went for a long walk, which had been very difficult and I detest being so sedentary. I have to take my bicycle in to my friendly bike doc's. She needs not only a tune-up but new tires. A new seat too, but I don't know whether I'll take one of his or another from a shop.

That is the little park just in front of the mairie of the 3rd arrondissement. (It will be interesting to see what becomes of the building because the first 4 arrondissements of Paris have been merged into a single one called "Paris Centre" and the administrative building selected was the mairie of the 4th arrondissement, simply because it had the most space.)

No leaves on the silver birch at the end of my road (our house is just out of sight, opposite side of the road and 2 doors down )) but the bark looked spectacular against the blue sky as I waited for my bus.

I love silver birch Cheery - my parents house was surrounded by them. I had one on my boundary up until 2 or 3 years ago when I came crashing down in a storm. Miss it still.

Obviously lots of silver birch around here - more of them northwards - as in Russia. I remember crying when a particularly beautiful one was split down the middle during the Great Ice Storm (southwestern Québec, eastern Ontario, northern New England).
