Since you've all had me squinting at every detail for a photo opportunity I happened to notice that all over the place are many different types of bench/seating areas for the public to use. In The Shires shopping mall are some lovely ones... there are quite a few of these huge blocks of stone around the city centre...imported from China apparently... some of the old ones... outside the museum Chamomile seat at Sissinghurst Cannes...I was taking a pic of the bananas at the time! any more?

What an interesting and varied collection. Good job, both of you.
I think I'd most want to lay on that last one. It looks very comfy.

This thread has been unjustly neglected since its creation -- but that's because we have so many excellent threads to deal with. I'm sure that this thread's day has come!

I agree. Here's a pic of the newish seating area in Times Square. It's nice to know that even in that madhouse, there are places to take a breather. Not the quietest place to read a book, though.

Fab photo nycgirl, I do love the sheer busyness and clamour of Times Square In complete contrast is this peaceful forest seating

What a wonderful variation of seats. I want a chamomile chair!!
NYCITYGIRL, I remember when that times square public seating area was put in and sat there many times. It's deceiving from the pic just how comforting it can be, and, it's a wonderful spot for people watching!!

Maybe it's an art installation and not public seating?

You can turn them to face each other, but yeah, a little far apart for being with loved ones. They're more sit-alone-with-a-book chairs.

Yes, they spin any direction you want but they can't move closer!

I haven't looked at this thread for a long time and have missed some real beauties here. Htmb, your last shot is positively lyrical.
