OMG, my Photobucket editor became incredibly horrible today. Did this happen to everybody else who uses Photobucket? I have not yet mastered the new cropping function.

I've never bothered with Photobucket's editing features because they take so long to load. I did get a message (as yet unread) from them burbling about all their great new editing options. Maybe that's what messed everything up.

I take back my complaint about the Photobucket editing tools now that I have begun to master them. Everything works ten times faster than before and there are more options (most of which I have not yet investigated).
However, things are quite different because in the past I almost systematically clicked on "autofix" to get a better picture, and now I find that I am cancelling the result at least half of the time when I see the result of the automatic adjustment -- generally too much contrast and too bright.

Really? I finally opened the Pbkt tools yesterday & the whole system was excruciatingly slow. I thought it was my internet connection, but there was a string of comments below the test drive thingy, many complaining about the same thing. Kerouac, once you get going with the pbkt editor, would you make a tutorial or overview in the Technique section of Image Bank, please? Even though I really like Photoscape, I'd like to have another option, particularly since photobucket is where I store most of my pictures.

Is there a thread where people recommend specific cameras? Mine is on its last legs, now it won't release the SD chip. (At least I have over 700 shots left, so have some time to make the decision (assuming I should keep taking photos on this old girl - what if even tweezers won't pull it out?).

I don't have a cable with me for attaching the camera to the computer. My laptop has an SD slot, and i use a card reader with my desktop. will have to hunt for the cable.
thanks for the links, imec

The cable is usually a standard one - probably available at the dollar store for, oh I dunno, about a dollar. (I used to find great amusement at the five riyal store in Riyadh picking up various items and taking them over to the poor Yemeni shopkeeper asking him "Kham faloos", to which he would reply with bemused politeness despite his exasperation, "5 riyal siddiq, everything 5 riyal".)

We have been notified by Kodak Gallery that they are being sold to Shutterfly, and that our photos will be moved there. Wonder if that site is any good.

I guess Kodak is going down the tubes in every department.
Meanwhile, I just renewed my Photobucket pro account for another two years to prevent 98% of my photos here, there and everywhere from suddenly disappearing.

We have been notified by Kodak Gallery that they are being sold to Shutterfly, and that our photos will be moved there. Wonder if that site is any good. To my knowledge, the Kodak Co. and its subsidiaries have shut down completely and or has been bought up by another company. I remember hearing this a couple of months ago. I remember many years ago touring Kodak's main headquarters in Rochester, NY and being blown away by it. That was in 1971... All that equipment etc. is more than likely totally obsolete now.

Kodak Gallery in Europe will still be available, but the US version is going down.

I don't understand the rest of the question - you can hook the camera up directly to your computer to offload the images from the card (some suggest there is some risk to your camera doing this but I've done it hundreds of times with multiple cameras and never had an issue). So I found the cable that came with the camera and I've never used before. It does work, but so much more slowly than using the SD chip in the chip reader. But since the SD chip seems to be stuck in the camera, I've got to find another way. The cable is another way, even if it is slow.
