A detail that appears in that photo besides the rust fascinates me -- the fact that the beach cabins are painted different colours. I suppose this means that they are privately and individually owned? That could not happen in France.

Indeed. It would have been towed behind a tractor to cut the outfield at a cricket ground ( Hertford Cricket Club to be precise).
They are called gang mowers.
