We had a very early morning flight from Stansted to Munich and then a very long drive, over 300 miles from Munich to Northern Italy we stayed at The SAS Radisson Hotel at the airport.
The Radisson has a Wine Tower quote: The Wine Tower Bar is home to Europe's only Wine Tower. Perfect for a light bite at lunch, the area transforms at night into a stylish Wine Bar where 'Wine Angels' soar up the 13 metre high Wine Tower to retrieve one of 4000 bottles of wine. Prices ranged from £15 to well over £100 a bottle!
We had a great flight, only took 1 hour 20 mins as we had a tail wind. The hire car OH arranged should have been a small Polo sized car, but as we would be driving out of Germany Hertz wouldn't allow us to have a VW, Merc or Audi, as they are often stolen in Italy! The Hertz rep asked if we would mind having a larger car, "mind, of course we don't mind". We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw our hire car, a Citroen C6 and at no extra cost!
After 4 and 1/2 hours of driving, just stopping once in Austria for a quick bite to eat we arrived at Besenzone! We unpacked then walked into the little town centre for meal, lovely it was too.
We spent 2 nights in Bresenzone, Italy -
and from the back of a boat we took across Lake Garda (to Sirmione) -
views across Lake Garda from Bresenzone -
Sirmione, Lake Garda, Italy -
Bardolino, Lake Garda, Italy -
Back on the road again along the Brenner Pass to Brixen, Italy for one night. Views from our hotel window -
a few more photo's of Brixen -
Then on to Munich stopping off at Innsbruck, Austria for lunch -
... and yes the tiles on the small roof are covered in gold -
no this isn't a statue made of silver....
Sunday we went for a drive to a wonderful part of Bavaria stopping for Kaffee und Kuchen at Cafe Pauli in Aschau -
finally a few random photo's taken from Cafe Pauli -
