Of Course it's a thunbergia!!! (I'm not accustomed to that particular angle or Kerouac's botanical may be the other reason) And, I do recall seeing walls covered with them in Oaxaca. They grow like mad here as well but, I haven't seen any in bloom yet. I'm hoping that the hard freeze didn't do them in...

Casi, the green ones are easy peasy. It’s the coloured ones that I had a problem. And they are only emerging now after a cold spring.

It still looks like a new planet... (is it an heirloom variety Mick? And,is that it at it's ripening? Most of the heirloom varieties I've seen and/or grown are generally misshapen in form. That has a perfect roundness to it and the colors are gorgeous).
