Air kisses are a worthless piece of shit. Actually, in Paris men's lips usually touch the cheeks of either a woman or a man. Women who are not family members or close friends tend mostly present their cheeks and not actually kiss you, which is perfectly fine with me especially if they are wearing lipstick.

And you're not Flemish. Tsss ... I spent my military duty in a Flemish unit and worked 3 years in Audenaerde. Must be it ! Or maybe because I learnt Latin and became a fan of Spaar ta kus ;-)

The North American hugging started after I left Canada. I do find it strange. The first time it happened to me, when my sister's daughter-in-law patted my back, I felt like a baby about to be burped. Yes bjd! Like a baby being burped is a correct description! The pats on the back usually come from parents, aunts, uncles. At the beginning of my relationship with my husband, he found my family hugging a bit strange as his family are cheek kissers but now he hugs everyone! Even his male friends all hug one another.

One can get used to anything, but I find the kissing more gentle and friendly, as anybody who has ever suffered a bear hug can attest.

That is brilliant! It's quick, covers all the bases, and I was able to understand it. Best line is about British policy: "France can't have nice things."

I now know more about Belgium than I ever did before. It is both funny and informative - what is not to like? I think I may now go on to view some of the other videos in this series.

Not ancient, but a very Brussels-y landmark which appears to be dear to its neighborhood ~ The Palais du Midi serves as the socio-cultural and economic heart of the Stalingrad-Lemonnier district. It houses 35 businesses, 37 sports clubs, and a higher education school with 1,200 students. ... Many fear that the Palace’s demolition could depreciate the district and gentrify it, causing far-reaching consequences. “They’re about to erase a meeting point for all our children,” a resident warned.source (from July 2023)

Tbh several of these shops are derelict... It is on the big avenue between the gare du Midi (ugly place) and the center. I don't really like the area.

But it sounds as though the people who live there do like it.
