Wow Rikita, did this just kind of happen? Or have things been progressing for a while? That is good news, I think? well we have been in constant contact pretty much since a few weeks after we broke up and especially lately... and recently we had a long conversation about things (well on msn) - and decided to meet up... so right now i am at his place... yeah i think it is a good thing. i am a bit confused sometimes still as to what i really want an all that, but i will just see how things develop i guess...

I have now sent the Buddhist nun to bed after our very busy day spent out at the local Krishnamurti Centre.... where we had lunch followed by readings in the library, meditation in the Quiet Room and tea whilst watching the sun set. Then we all returned to my house where I served supper followed by a specil lotus tea from China....it was a little bundle that was put into hot water and gradually opening up into a lotus flower containing jasmine flowers. It was the highlight of the evening.

Very pretty spindrift.
We spent the afternoon running errands - trip to the home improvement store and supermarket. I bought some chicken wire type stuff because the puppy has pulled out several of my nice plants int the yard, so then we spent some time building a little enclosure to hopefully keep her out and then planting the new plants I bought. While at the supermarket, we came across a good deal on a pack of 6 bottles of good wine, so we picked that up for the post-wedding party. About 20 people are invited, but 2 are pregnant and that only leaves 3 that are big wine drinkers, the rest prefer beer or cocktails. So, 6 bottles should work.

Sounds like a lovely day, Spindrift.
I am back from a lovely day out, picnic, long walk, nap under the trees .... bliss. Bonnie and Luc thought so too.

What is going on today?!? I managed to drop a mug onto a plate, breaking both. Then I put a CD in to play and the machine ate it. Then, the the legs of the rack I use to dry clothes in the yard decided to desintegate.

Are you by any chance pre-menstrual?? I find that I am uber clumsy around that time of the month.

Well, it is around that time, but the plate/mug was the only one that is really due to my clumsiness. The clothes rack is old and the base has started to rust since I have to hose down the paved part of the patio due to the dogs and the CD player, who knows what is going on there. I chose disk one to play, and it slid the disk into the part that plays the CD, but then it said there was no disk. I can't find any way to get the disk back out .

Don't you just hate it when stuff breaks? And it always seems to happen in threes. About the time the third thing goes wrong, I'm ready to burst out in tears! And I rarely cry.

Yeah, I thought with 3 nothing else would happen today, but the puppy just knocked over a table with 2 planters on it. I did figure out the problem with my camara's memory card, though, so I guess those 2 cancel each other out.

I just find my karma at that time of the months makes me clumsy AND everything that can, will go wrong.
Hope today is a better day and that you get your CD back!

rikita, isn't the ex the fellow who practices unsafe climbing? how will you overcome this if you stay together? i don't know yet. we will go climbing on saturday, if he manages to come here this weekend. so i will see then. either we find some agreement, like, i warn him if he does this particular mistake, and he decides whether to ignore my warning or not, or well, my brother has to belay him, as he will be there too. he doesn't do unsafe climbing per se, he takes all other safety measures, he just doesn't take this particular one very serious. there are a lot of people who don't, but it scares me. actually, my brother fell a few weeks ago with his foot slipping under the rope - not much happened, but he got a bruise and some rope burn, and was after that a bit scared in the lead for a while...

Well, this is kind of amusing. Since the company I freelance for is based in the US and reports my income to the IRS there, I have to pay social security at the self-employed rate (I am able to claim the foreign exemption on income tax, however). I just found out that an agreement has come into effect where you can contribute to an AFP (an individual retirement acct.) instead and then you don't have to pay social security tax in the US, which would be a wonderful thing.
I went to go sign up. The first time I was here, I was on contract and had the contributions taken out by my employer. I took that money out when I left. I went to the same pension company as I had been signed up with before. Not only did they still have me in the system, but there was money in the account. Okay, not alot, about US$150, but it was still funny to find that out. I guess when I took my money maybe the company's last contribution had not arrived in the account when they cut me the check.

I was grating papaya just now and I've grated my thumb as well. And I don't have any plasters, I've had to use toilet roll instead.

Toilet paper is great for small cuts. If that doesn't work, you move on to paper towels.

I'll take your advice if the current solution of toilet paper bound with sellotape fails to stem the copious flow of blood.

*wince*
Mark, I SWEAR I am not making this up: dried ground cayenne pepper is a styptic and will stop the flow of blood. It will sting, but just a little bit & just for a moment.

Fine. Don't believe me. And the next time you cut yourself shaving, don't try this. Far better to go off to work with little spots on your collar and tiny tags of toilet paper fluttering from your cheeks.

I don't seem to have any cayenne pepper. Would powdered garlic be as effective?
I've also got thyme, coriander, nutmeg and tabasco sauce at hand. I favour the tabasco, what do you think?

*hisses air between teeth*
The vinegar in tabasco would really smart! Do you have any paprika? That's a form of dried capsicum that should work just as well, maybe.

I've got black pepper and white pepper? Pepper is capsicum, isn't it?
I've just seen dried chilli pepper as well. That wouldn't sting, would it?
