Is there anything this man can't do? Many thanks, mon Capitan. If you still want to change your name: Click on "profile" at the top of the page. Click on "edit profile" on the right of the next page. Click on "personal." Then you can change your "display name." Once you've done that, click on "save personal settings" at the bottom of the page. Voilà.

Hi, questa! Many have wondered where and how you have been. Great to see you here! What Kerouac says in #9333 is very important. When you change your display name you are still the same member you always were. That means that no matter what you change the display name name to, people can search for Questa's posts and threads and find them going all the way back to when you first registered on anyport. They can also search for you under your new display name and will find that same information, as your display name is tied to your registration name. This is not the case when a member starts a new account under a similar name. The search engine will never recognize that joeblow and joeblow2 are the same person, for instance. People who flounce or accidentally delete their accounts lose access to those accounts. Even though they re-register with the same name as before, their old account is now "Deleted", meaning that, even though the threads and posts are still there, they no longer have the member's name on them, nor will they turn up in a search using the member's name.

I won't hog all the boards with my weird trips and narrow escapes until I have sorted out the time-line. My brain is working OK but when I am in an OFF day things get a bit vague, I'll post in Parkinson's thread anyway. thanks for your greetings, I missed you all so much.

I know that the prices of homes are insane in California, but I just looked up my nephew's address to see if I had it right and Google volunteered the information "sold for $1,429,000 on Jan 26, 2023" with a current estimation of $1,876,015. This is next to San Diego.

Having been to America three times over my 79years I wonder if I could have ever lived there. At the earliest visits I was extremely impressed with everything. Obviously far far away from the real lives lived there. My son did not like New York at all but I'm glad we took him there and not just Disney World. Staying with friends in Fort Collins in Colorado we definitely discovered we could never endure the far distances and icy winters. So, where could I think of living if I had the opportunity? My son says "Live in a city or country that treats you the best" Mmmmm....that sounds great but you need to be young to adapt to another or several cultures. I could tolerate a different lifestyle for a short burst but like most of us we long for our roots and where we made memories.

The West Coast is obviously the nicest part of the US, but if you want to live near the ocean where it's especially nice, you will pay very dearly for the privilege.

As an European I can say we went from the American dream in the 60’s to ‘ I could not live there, too many morons, with no culture’. I could write it more diplomatically but the message is there. And if Trump gets re-elected we will be mad and the antiaméricanism will go through the roof.

There are plenty of great people in the United States, but the horrible ones get all of the publicity. It sometimes looks like moral resignation to me, the idea that "my life is okay and I will just ignore the people fucking up the country" because they are so totally crazy that you don't want to talk to them. And so the gun craze continues, abortion is banned in many places, opioids are submerging the country, books are pulled out of schools, and often it feels as though nobody is even fighting it any more -- they just abandon the hopeless areas of the country and hope that it doesn't spread to where they themselves live.

The US guys I meet who are educated and well traveled are fantastic. But I fear they are the minority. A friend of mine said if Trump got elected he would move out of the country. Same as I said if Ecolo got elected in Belgium 🙄

The anti-Trumpists already said that last time and yet they stayed, because you only watch out for yourself, not for the rest of the country.

Where I live, the Trumpers hold no political sway. We can mostly just ignore him and his idiot followers. I look at the "red states" where Trumpers run things similar to how I look at North Korea or Iran. No, thank you, I probably won't be visiting you in Florida, Mississippi, Texas, or Iowa.

On 29th May dissatisfied South Africans in their millions will go to the polls and hopefully kick the useless ANC Government out of office. This is our last chance to save South Africa from total collapse. It is so close to this.

If we succeed this time there is going to be shit hitting the fan - the ANC will not be happy. If we loose, the fight will have to go on and hope the next election might be the good one.

Oh! Sorry for being thick....there are 15 serious ones. That's all I could find. Main one in power at the moment is the ANC followed by the DA which is fighting to save South Africa.

I wish nothing but the worst for the corrupt and incompetent ANC, they are in it up to their necks with Putin and his oligarchs. Classic trash attracted to trash scenario.

I read that the Socialist Women’s Union of North Korea has banned the keeping of dogs as pets because it’s “unsocialist”.
Dogs are only for meat and fur.
