Seriously Tod? That is awesome! And thank you for the compliment! I am still trying to determine what fabric and pattern to have a valance and table cloth made for my kitchen and patio door windows, any ideas? And which should be patterned, the valance/drapes or the table cloth. You can see why I am a slow decorator, it takes me a long time to find what I want to do. I have been doing my bedroom and bath ensuite for about 2 years now and I am just about finished, just need something for my walls, I am thinking some type of metal art? The walls are not uniform or high enough for picture art.
Well, perhaps we should have a decorating thread?
Cheers, Mich

We always had things like that in the house when I was growing up. It helped to console my mother from having changed lives. I was sorry to abandon it all when I had to sell all of the furnishings in the house for something like $600 to a junk dealer. Or maybe "heartbroken" would be a more appropriate description. Too many old people die in Florida, so there is absolutely no demand for the boring contents of their houses. It's that or nothing.

Hey Mich, just wanted to point out that you were lucky you got to see Oscar Wilde's tomb when you did. It's been restored and is now surrounded by a glass barrier. I understand they needed to prevent the tomb from eroding due to all the lipstick kisses. Unfortunately, the barrier now prevents anyone from getting a good photo of it.

Mich, I never thanked you for pointing me in the right direction to that couscous place! I found it by walking(on Pages Jaunes) rue de Lyon, no.25 and corner of rue Austerlitz No.23. Thank you so much for remembering

Wow nycgirl! What a difference it makes when cleaned! I had read that this was going to happen so I am indeed happy that I got a before shot. Out of all my photos, the tomb of Oscar Wilde created the most conversation amongst my family and friends upon our return this year. Thank you for showing us the restored tomb and also showing the new glass barrier.
Tod2, I am so happy that you found the restaurant! I am glad that I could be of assistance to you!
Cheers! Mich

Too many old people die in Florida, so there is absolutely no demand for the boring contents of their houses. Au contraire, K2, Mr. Kimby and I shop the thrift stores and consignment shops in Florida every time we're there. So many old people moving from house to assisted living means lots no room for lots of good stuff. Although I imagine there's a lot of chaff to weed out when choosing what to resell.

Seeing OW's tomb from Mich's perspective, then the cleaned one from Bjd, then SS's "before" shot was interesting & fun. (& a belated apology to Sojoh for thanking Mich instead of her for the info on the bridge locks -- ) Mich, I second Kerouac's remark about there never being too many pictures. So often, part of the person's enthusiasm for what they're showing comes through in the sheer volume of photos. Too, I love your pictures. I also love the frames you found for those paintings. Big ditto to LaGatta's championing of a decorating thread!

SO beautiful! The one with the covered boats & the mist over the water and the other of the clouds lying low in the mountains are especially good. Thanks!

Thanks Bixa! That is one thing I love about September, the mist in the morning, really makes it cozy for a long and lazy few cups of tea. By afternoon the boats are uncovered, the temperture soars and it feels like summer all over again!
Cheers! Mich

Aloha from Kaua'i! I really enjoyed your report and pictures Mich - I was in Paris the last 2 weeks of September 2011 (same time as you possibly?) and it was so lovely and warm - I could hardly believe it! ;D We stay at 35 rue de Lyon, just down the street from the Opera Cafe that you have the photo of - altho' we've never eaten there (funny since it is so very close to the flat we stay at!!) - and I love that area very much. In fact we are heading back there (same flat also) this September again. ;D I don't feel so very bad (albeit guilty) for not doing a Trip Report of my Sept. 2011 trip to Paris - yours is lovely and covers so much - and mine would just be a duplication more or less (told you I felt guilty Kerouac2!!). I loved Paris in September and we are hoping to have lovely weather (altho' possibly not quite so hot) this year as well - once more - mahalo (thank you) for your lovely report and photos!

Aloha from Kaua'i! Well, I'd be happy to do a Trip Report/Photo Report from our trip - but wouldn't it be redundant and a little late in the game? If you would like me to, I'd certainly give it a go....especially since I'm all fired up about making our final plans for our trip this September! ;D I love this board and would be happy to do something - either from here where I live or from our vacation....just let me know. Malama Pono (take care) Janet
