I went down to the zócalo today to meet Charlie so we could to do some errands, have lunch, etc. Late in the afternoon we came back to the zócalo & encountered a sea of people.Although Bixa has many fine traits, she knows dip about cars. However, there are people who will know and appreciate the vehicles shown here. Let's hope they will jump in to comment. Many, many more cars to show, so please stay tuned.

When I went to visit my Dad on Vancouver Island last week for Father's Day, we stopped at Coombs Country Market along the way to see the goats on the roof, and we came upon this: The gentleman who made it lurks on the porch waiting for people to admire it. It's formed out of curved laminated wood just like a high-end kayak or canoe. Even the visors and the dashboard were wood. It was amazing.

Ah, I still have dreams of owning a rag top 2CV. It'll never happen now, I'm afraid, my husband is far too practical. He has a Subaru. But it reminds me of the time I had the candy apple red 1972 MGB...

Lizzy! Did you really? I leaned how to drive a shift on a four speed, candy apple red 1967 Road Runner. There was something about the color candy apply red that made it even more special.

Yes I did. It was my favourite car by far, and what a guy magnet that car was. I just wish when it collapsed I was going through one of my flush periods and I could have afforded to fix it. I'd still have it.

Oh, that's too bad!
MY car belonged to my high school boyfriend. I miss that car. :-)

The boyfriend? Not so much?

The boyfriend? Not at all, though it's been about a hundred years since I've thought about him. He did have cool cars, though. The one before the Road Runner was a green 1965 Mustang Fastback. I got to drive it, too. He worked in a garage so I suppose he put all his salary into his cars.

The Vuitton trunk might be worth more than the rest of the vehicle!

Not unless LV trunks go well into seven figures. That's a Bentley Speed Six, a similar example of which sold for $1,815,000.

Really? Wow! Then the Vuitton trunk is peanuts.

Does the old Fiat 500 have a nickname in the Netherlands? In France, they were called "yogurt pots" (pot de yaourt).

FYI, I'm in Belgium. It's called 'bolleke' here.

Oops, sorry about the country! I thought I saw NL the first time and my eyes never strayed back to "Antwerp."
What does bolleke mean?

It's a diminutive of 'ball' (petite boule). Probably because of its round shape.

Ha! That's a Belgian deux chevaux. It has a special licence plate for oldtimers (they pay less road tax). The car seems to be in very good condition.

Just from the architecture in the background, you should be able to deduce that I took the photo in Belgium, amboseli.

That's what I thought, kerouac. Is it Dinant? Or Bouillon?
