Thanks, you all!
re: which florist not to use ~ I told my mother the saga of the arrangement & she said this is the new way. She went on to say that she got a lovely arrangement with several perfect rosebuds in it. My niece was visiting with her toddler. The little girl manage to grab one of the rosebuds & it was discovered that the bud had no stem. Further investigation showed that most of the flowers had very little stem and were merely stuck into barely damp florist foam.
This is particularly infuriating when you realize that many arrangements are sent to people who have no way to take them apart as I did, so wind up disappointed when the whole thing wilts in only a day or so.

More disaster response decorating - - The rainstorm a couple of days ago played havoc with the Salvia leucantha. I salvaged some of the flowers, added a couple of other clippings from the yard, and made this arrangement.

It really is lovely Bixa...you are very creative! I bought myself a chair. I saw it months ago in a department store in town and fell for it. It was very expensive so I just admired it. Over the following few weeks I 'visited' the chair every time I was in town, my sisters, DiL and GD all really liked it, sat in it and thought it was totally 'me' 2 weeks ago I saw that the chair had been moved to the sale aisle...so I asked about the price...reduced to £249.99 ( reduced!). Still couldnt justify such a large expense for a wooden chair. Last Thursday I was in the area with DiL and Granddaughter...we were cooing over the chair (it's bright red with a large woven seat..really comfortable for my ample behind) when a sales lady came over and suggested that she asked the manager for a further reduction. The line has been discontinued and there was only one left in the store...they offered me a generous discount that I accepted. We've never had new dining chairs before...all our wooden chairs were rescued from skips, bought in junk shops and fixed up, and I have one of my Dad's old carvers. None match. The new one wont match either but I love it..it provides really good back support and doesn't creak when I sit on it I'll post a pic when it's delivered on 14th and installed in my craft room.

Yes, well done indeed, Cheery! You obviously were meant to have that chair. Can't wait to see the picture.

Excellent chair, but the original price was much too high! Even the reduced price of £249.99 shocks me.

Nice chair but I admit I too find the price really high. Heaven knows what it cost before the discount. Looks like Kerouac and I are both cheap.

It was expensive...it was 'hand crafted' out of ash wood or some such. Nonsense of course. Good quality furniture is expensive, upon examination the chair is very solidly built (and beautiful). There were some Ercol (brand) dining chairs that I liked too and they were a similar price. DiL wants me to leave it to her in my will....

It is absolutely gorgeous! Just realised that I can save the pic that I took on my phone to my laptop....so here is the photograph that I took in the store To add a picture here directly from your phone: Click on "Add image to post" below the message box. In the window that pops up, select "browse from your device". The window will tell you to choose an action. Choose Files. Another window will open with icons of all the places you might have the picture stashed. Choose the one you want and then the folder and then the picture. Click Done. It will upload on the imgbb site. It's good to click on the editing thumbnail in order to reduce the size of the photo.
