Hello all, I'm new to Any Port and would like to introduce myself. I'm a 57 year old/young female, a wife and a mom. I live in Belgium, in the countryside north of Antwerp. In fact I'm 5 km from the Dutch border. I'm not a native English speaker, so bear with me please! I love all the good things in life which, for me, are eating & drinking, travel, photography. Here's a capture of my village in the snow (which we don't have very often).

Absolutely lovely to have you here, Amboseli. Your photos are dazzling! Is it countryside/farmland where you are? It will be interesting to see the same sites as the seasons change.
So what's the story on your handle? Super name!

Those are beautiful, Amboseli. I remember the lovely trees planted alongside roads and railways in that area, when travelling between Amsterdam and Brussels. Sadly I haven't had a chance to explore that area yet. It was very lovely, in a quiet way reminiscent indeed of the great Flemish school of painting. In Belgium I've only been to Brussels, Liège (in the French-speaking part) and the Flemish coast. I so love the Kusttram. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kusttram The wiki article calls it "coast tram"; I'd think "coastal tram" would be better English and that the title is copied too closely from the Dutch/Flemish. tot ziens!

Hi amboseli, I second bixa's question about your handle. Was the choice related to the National Park?

Lovely photos, but after the frozen beginning of February, now we are beginning to long after a little greenery!

Thank you all. My handle ... it is indeed related to the beautiful national park in Kenya. After more than 15 years still one of my fondest travel memories. I'm so glad I found this website.

We're glad you found it, too. And I hope you know that no village is too small or too ugly to make a report about. Jeez, I even made a photo report about Charleroi, and that takes some doing!

Nice pics, Amboseli. Sometimes when I see snow I think it might be nice for a couple of days

Thank you, tod2. I so wish we could take another trip to Kenya. But then, maybe better stick to the good memories?
