Pour the advocaat first - the more the better - into a long tall glass. Then, add the lemonade REALLY slowly with the glass at an angle so it doesn't froth up and sits on top of the advocaat. Once you've got to the desired level, make sure there's at least half an inch to the lip of the glass, and then, with a long handled spoon delve into the bottom of the advocaat and scoop it up into the lemonade, turning the glass as you do so. Once you've done this all the way round, give it a quick stir and then you're ready to add or garnish with a lime.
The end.

Is crushed or shaved ice involved in someway?

If you like. But I don't bother with it, and personally wouldn't reccommend it. I would, however, advise that the lemonade should be chilled.
The point of the above is that you get as much lemonade in without the whole thing frothing up and over and becoming a volatile mess.

What exactly is a snowball, for those of us of non-Anglo culture?
For me a snowball is
1) that thing that you throw at other children on snowy days
2) a concoction of shaved ice and colorful syrup served in a paper cone
Somehow, I think you are talking about something else.

It's kind of a little bit obvious from the OP, isn't it ?
A mixture of advocaat, lemonade and lime. Mostly drunk at Christmas in the 70's in England, but mainly drunk every night by my wife.

A snowball. I remember, I did have one in the Seeventies. It is the kind of drink that takes away your appetite. I did't think Mrs Gyro was born then.

I had to look up advocaat. I guess rompope could be substituted here. I don't doubt that the snowball is good, but I'm having a terrible time trying to imagine it. When anyone refers to ingesting a snowball, this is what occurs to me. I think they're called snowcones in the rest of the US.

Baz, why would you think Mrs G was not born in the 70's ? How old do you think we are ?
Bix, obviously, it depends on your tastes, but they're actually nicer than I imagined. I wouldn't drink them, but from the odd slurp or two I had to have before coming up with the above method (ie. the drink was frothing and overflowing), I can see why people like them.
