Luckily, I do not like chocolate enough to ever go on a chocolate binge. I've known people who do it, and it is not a pretty sight.
I have been know to consume too much ice cream at one sitting, but it is a very rare event.
But what brought "binge" to mind to night was the package of candied ginger that I just gobbled. I am careful to buy only a small package at a time, and this one was lying around for at least 2 months, but tonight I laid my eyes on it, and it was gone within 5 minutes.
I don't even like candied ginger all that much, but if I start eating it I can't stop.

I guess you'll have to join Candied Ginger Anonymous.
I don't think of you as a bingey person at all. I can be, but fortunately not at all in recent years - only when I'm very low. Like eating a packet of chips (crisps) after a very rude man insinuated that I was too fat. Utterly irrational behaviour!
And many people binge on things other than food and drink, so it doesn't entirely fit within the food boards. One friend was a TERRIBLE shopaholic...

when I was in that horrid job a few years back, stress would sometimes get me to eat a whole pack of cadbury's mini eggs (you could find them all year long) within minutes. then I'd be high on sugar for part of the afternoon. Basically, when I am stressed and unhappy, I eat more "bad/unhealthy" things.
I can get all emotional sometimes, and I totally despise that part of me. Just get on with it, girl!

Salty foods: potato chips (crisps), anchovies, sour pickles, etc. Followed by several beers.

Something salty, something sweet and something to wash the whole mess down - potato chips (crisps) and black liquorice, with gingerale as a libation. That used to be a regular thing for me.
Is it possible to be addicted to black liquorice? Once I start, I keep going till the bag is gone.

Joanne, in the Netherlands they sell salty liquorice. I don't like sweets but I do like that (of course there is some sugar in there).
Salty foods for me, but not pickles. And wine, not beer (though also mineral water with a lot of mineral content)...

My preferred brand is something called Darrell Lea Soft Eating Liquorice. It's Australian and it's not very sweet. It's not salty though. It tastes much like what the liquorice pipes and cigars used to taste like 50 years ago (when I was a child )

I am another person incapable of moderating my liquorice consumption, so I just avoid buying it. In any case, it is very harmful to blood pressure levels.

Black licorice is bad for blood pressure. I suppose a bit from time to time isn't bad, but regular consumption raises blood pressure.
I don't like the stuff -- or anything with anise flavour -- so I'm not worried about it.
The only thing I really can binge on is a dried apricot paste imported from Syria. I love the stuff, but can't get it here (only in Paris) and I suppose the supply in Syria has gone down too.

Nuts....just about any variety. Someone brought a bag to the birthday party last night and I keep going over to the leftovers and pinching a few. I also added pecans to the chocolate frosting on the birthday cake. It's one of those frostings you pour over the cake just out of the oven and, in my opinion, its just not the same without nuts.

One learns something every day - I had no idea licorice was bad for the blood pressure. I very rarely eat it, or anything sweet, and don't have high blood pressure, but it is good to remember. I do like anise, for example taralli (a kind of rich Italian breadstick made with olive oil and various flavourings, anice or fennel being among the most common) and fennel, the vegetable. I also have friends who can't abide it.
Don, I have never dreamt of cheese, but I certainly love it. I'm very careful not to buy too much, as despite its many virtues, it is high in cholesterol and calories. (mmmm fromage).
And TOASTED cheese - raclette, cheese toasted by the fire. This was probably done originally to make rock-hard cheese rinds edible, but so magnified the flavour. Heidi's grandfather toasted cheese by the fire in the Alpine air.

Last time I went to the doctor my blood pressure was 120 over 80, which is high for me. I normally clock in at 100 over 70. So I don't need to worry too much about blood pressure. What I do need to worry about are all the bloody calories. If I ate one or two pieces a day, I wouldn't worry but I normally inhale the whole bag in an hour or two. When I manage to make a 200g bag last two or three days, I feel like I have accomplished something.
Easiest thing to do is buy it as rarely as possible.

I ate a whole bag of licorice twists the last time I was in NYC and that was about the only thing I ate for the entire day, since I was running around all over the city.
The next morning, I was able to witness a phenomenon linked to that which I had never imagined.

I find that is what happens with liquorice with more sugar, chemicals etc. It's one reason I avoid cheaper liquorice. I recall an absolutely frightening moment with green spearmint liquorice years ago.
