100-year egg with preserved ginger and Portuguese sardines in chili oil. Did you finish by drinking the oil? No, I always pour the oil from sardine tins down the drain unless I have pieces of bread to dip -- which I didn't.

just now having lunch - a cup of instant soup (mushroom cream, i think) that was quite a bit past the best by date and thus needed to be either thrown out or eaten, and a slice of potato bread with prosciutto di parma.

I found the two pouches of prepared vegetables I mislaid when I made my soup day before yesterday. This morning I removed them from the fridge and after a brief inspection pronounced them fit for consumption so proceeded to make my second pot of soup with smoked bacon. At lunchtime it was good and ready - just in time for our architect to accompany my husband into the kitchen for a slap up soup lunch!

A pseudo Asian noodle and tofu soup seasoned in a more- or- less Korean style.
It may not be authentic, but it's delicious.

Prawn and egg curry. I made the prawn curry first and then added halved hard boiled eggs just sitting in the sauce for an hour. Served with Pilau rice, sweet peach chutney.

today i will make the last bit of "armer ritter" (had some for dinner and some for breakfast too, to get rid of all the leftover old bread - it's bread soaked in egg and milk and then fried, the names very per country i think) - making it with banana and raisins and almonds, and then eating it with apple sauce and preserved cherries ...

bought a quinoa-bean-soybean salad for whenever i have nothing there for lunch, so ate it just now. tasted okay - i like quinoa - but on the package when giving all the great nutritional qualities, they say " ... for a modern diet" - which makes me wonder, did people not use to eat fiber and similar things in the old days?
