If you've travelled quite a bit around India before, you may know how to deal with auto drivers- Bangalore unfortunately has some of the worst...Some are good but many aren't- telling some to use the meter is useless, some meters are rigged. Some drivers may take you to say perpendicular Commisariat Rd and say "Yes, this is MG Rd."
But Bangalore is cosmopolitan. Great restaurants, beer cafes, malls etc. It is the main IT city of India.

Thanks!
Deyana, are you going to Mumbai as well? Maybe I can help, just visited it for nearly a week in Dec/Jan.

In India, I myself have only been to Chennai and Pondicherry (my airline had direct flights to Chennai and airline employees often choose their destinations in function of this ridiculous criterium -- well, the fact that the ticket was free perhaps makes it more understandable). I did make a small report about Pondicherry but the trip was so long ago....

Oh that's great, anshjain. I will be going to Mumbai (unless I've over-thought the itinerary and time limitations). Hopefully though.

Thats normal Ansh as you are 4 times younger. But see it from the other side: How many boys or girls in your age, in your country, have been and seen places as you do?

That's true, Regards. Agreed.
But I still wonder how much I'll be able to travel later...

Thanks for the link to your blog, ansh. I was thinking the same as Regards, you are very well traveled for someone so young. And I'm sure you will do much more yet. It was the opposite with me. Until now I haven't had the time or the opportunity to do any real traveling. If you like to travel, you will find a way, ansh.

... I'll be able to travel later..... Herr Ansh, all depend what kind of job you choice for your future. If it will be in the branch of tourism, like a T.O. for example, you will be astonished how short the time is to be at home. The problem than is only, you will never have a real Familienleben.

Wow. Is all I can say after having a look at your blog, ansh. You write about so many different countries in such a knowledgeable way, would you say it is a hobby of yours? I'm very impressed! Please do tell us more about how you collect the information and photos.

Indeed regards, and I wonder if I'll get that job... I have anxiety.
Thanks, deyana! In my family I am actually the main planner for trips- even picking airfares and accommodation. Thorn Tree has helped too, in the way I travel and I would like to travel later on. The way I collect information and photos? Just like normal sightseeing- and I try to keep a track of it later on- as to which road is what etc.

Not so much where I've been, but when I went there.
A work colleague observed I always seemed to pick "interesting" times for my travels so I made a list for her which I will post here.
1992 arrived in Thailand during student riots...several killed. Bought earrings from the remains of a stall in burnt out hotel.
1992 In Burma got patted down at each take off or landing i.e. every day to make sure I wasn't armed or smuggling rubies.
1994 Vietnam before sanctions lifted and tourists arrived. Had to stay on well used tracks to avoid land mines, specially around Khe Sanh
1995 Nepal at the height of strikes and demos to overthrow king. Had to pick my way through 1000s of angry tuk-tuk drivers having a push and shove stop work meeting.
1999 Laos and Cambodia. Bomb exploded near my hotel in Vientiane, Rebels shooting with army in country area where I was (Plain of Jars). Land mines being detonated in Cambodia within my earshot.
1999 Yogyakarta Xmas 2 bombs went off in churches (it was Xmas)I was woken by one not far from my place.
2000 Arrived Lombok with armed soldiers on every corner as an uprising was expected that day.(one year anniversary of mass riots which killed many). Few shots fired but most of the time I was there there was tension and people expecting trouble. 2001 Bali bombs...I was in Lombok (Muslim) and things there very tense as they expected a reprisal. I asked to go to Bali to help in the hospital but request ignored.
When US invaded Afghanistan I was in Lombok. Big threats against all us westerners. Police made special guards available to any of us that asked for them. I had the men in my village that kept an eye out for me, as a nearby Chinese house had been torched in a previous event.
2005 Riots in Uzbekistan...had to change our route.Kazakhstan and Kyrghistan OK but western China had ongoing demos re Uighurs
2006 Russia, Mongolia, China no problems but long stopover in Copenhagen due to airport strike.
2007 India had the usual undercurrents of unrest but nothing serious until the road ran close to Kashmir where some tourists had recently been kidnapped.
2007 Pakistan ...really hairy, restrictions on us and a series of armed guards to escort us from Peshawar through Swat valley.
2009 Iran... arrived during the students uprising. Very tense in cities.
2011 Morocco...A bomb exploded in a cafe in Marrakech a week before I went there. I am sure that as soon as I make a booking the local insurgents start their plotting!
2013 Sri Lanka...after 30 years of war and huge destruction from the Tsunami, it is now peaceful...at least for travellers!

P.S. If Askar is still visiting here...I'd love to hear more of your stories about the places we both have visited. We seem to have similar interests.

Ha, I went to Bali with a friend for the 2nd time less than a month after the huge bombs went off there in 2002 -- talk about Kuta being a ghost town! We were usually the only customers in a restaurant. (And the quality of the food was a lot less fresh because of this.)

Questa, your list reads more like that of a war correspondent! Were your travels with organized groups much of the time, or were you making your way on your own?

htmb...with a small group in Burma, Uzbekistan and the Pakistan trips; the others I was on my own. When young, I had wanted to be a journalist covering foreign countries but life's events sent me down a different path.
War correspondents are my heroes, specially the photo journalists.
I usually have my travels booked months ahead of any open strife in a place, but I wonder if the "war correspondent" in my unconscious mind directs me to those places.
And, yes, I was a 'barricade stormer' in my youth!

I just got home from 5 days in Belgrade (and one to Novi Sad), Serbia -- one of my annual European city outings. Interesting place, quite unexpected in some ways. Will post some photos one of these days.
I am constantly amazed at how well the young, and not so young, East/ Central Europeans speak English. Especially American accented. It certainly puts the French or Spanish to shame.
