Here is a thread for pictures whose natural lack of a wide color range gives them their impact. I had several examples picked out -- many from the first page of Shadows & Silhouettes, quite a few from Light, some from Rainy Days, Curt's gray train on page five of Trains, and many more. But for brevity's sake, check out NYCGirl's #22 here, which very nicely defines the restrained palette. ====================================================

Beautiful photo, and great topic idea!
Thanks for referencing my photo. It's funny, before I read that, I was thinking I didn't have a single photo that fit the description.

I love every picture that's been posted here. Each has a subtle pull that marks it as an excellent photo, beyond mere subject matter. For instance, isn't it wonderful how #2 and #9 both make us appreciate the gradations of color, line, and texture, allowing us into the artist's eye behind the camera?

I do love this whole Image Bank, it is very inspirational to see all the different categories.
But htmbs bridge is a real classic, the couple sat on the wall just make a wonderful picture.

Thank you very much, Mossie. I hadn't really paid too much attention to that picture since I took it in June, but I do like it, too.

So many wonderful photos here. Cheery, may I ask how come those prehistoric ammonites?? are under snow? OR, is that sea sand?
